The Searchers – Love Potion No. 9 (The Clovers cover) Lyrics | 1 year ago |
The song is about a guy down on his luck finding love. He turns to a gypsy that has an aphrodisiac that drives him to fall in love and kiss everyone he sees, including a cop, that breaks the bottle in anger. The NYC Doo-wop song predates the drug use of the 60's as others wrote. |
Little Feat – On Your Way Down Lyrics | 1 year ago |
This song always reminds me of a d bag boss I had once. He took credit for everything good and passed the buck on everything HE messed up. He wouldn't back me on an incident that the Congressman's personal secretary screwed up and he took to reaming me out in front of the personal secretary just to show his "control" of the situation and to "teach me" to never fail on directions from a congressman's office. Everyone in the agency knew it was going to hit "the fan" and I was a dead man walking. The secretary had all his notes and proof that I screwed up after all. He had dates and had times and even the length of the phones calls we had. He had everything written down. He even had notes in different inks from different days contacts. Amazing the detail and efficiency. Unbelievable how he kept track of everything. Well... except he never gave me the assignment and his proof was BS. And I told my boss and the secretary after they finished their "show". See, I was on my honeymoon vacation for the two weeks surrounding the dates the assignment was given and the dates we spoke. My boss should have known because he had been to my wedding and he approved my leave. (He was only invited for political reasons) After the incident, the congressman apologized to me and my boss was given a "special assignment" with another government agency. He never returned to his old job. The secretary later entered politics and ran for congress himself. He lost the primary by 70%. They used me on their way up, but I got the last laugh on their way down. |

It is cold and raining outside as I type. This song reminds me it's going to be a long cold winter but at the end, it will be warm and sunny, like in the song where at the end of the week, all's well. |

@[kingsburyrun:43469] You are totally wrong. I can tell you were not around at the time this song was written. It was a protest against the war for one thing. Us boomers were against it as it was dragging on for years. It was also the first time that the horrors of war were brought into your living room EFD. Pollution was just being discussed. UberRich were becoming richer as poor were becoming even poorer. This is a 60's protest song. |

The Who – My Wife Lyrics | 1 year ago |
The above lyrics ARE NOT MY Wife by The Who.. The comments are about the Who song. My life's in jeopardy Murdered in cold blood is what I'm gonna be I haven't been home since Friday night and now my wife Is comin' after me Give me police protection Gonna buy a gun so I can look after number one Give me a bodyguard A black belt judo expert With a machine gun Gonna buy a tank and an airplane When she catches up with me Won't be no time to explain She thinks I've been with another woman And that's enough To send her half-insane Gonna buy a fast car, put on my lead boots, and take a long, long drive I may end up spendin' all my money But I'll still be alive All I did was have a bit too much to drink And I picked the wrong precinct Got picked up by the law and now I ain't got time to think Gonna buy a tank and an airplane When she catches up with me Won't be no time to explain She thinks I've been with another woman And that's enough To send her half-insane Gonna buy a fast car, put on my lead boots, and take a long, long drive I may end up spendin' all my money But I'll still be alive And I'm oh, so tired of running Gonna lay down on the floor I gotta rest some time So I can get to run some more Yeah She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' She's comin' Source: LyricFind Songwriters: John Entwistle My Wife lyrics © Whistle Rhymes Limited |

Golden Earring – Vanilla Queen Lyrics | 1 year ago |
From SongFacts: https://www.songfacts.com/facts/golden-earring/vanilla-queen ""Vanilla Queen" was inspired by a woman of about 40 whom lead vocalist Barry Hay saw on the club circuit. Hay was born in 1948; all the other band members were of the same or about the same age, and 40 seems positively ancient to a 20-something rock musician at the height of his powers! In a certain parlance, "vanilla" refers to the way people dress, in particular dressing down rather than up, i.e. everyday clothes." "Hay scribbled a couple of lines and was told by lead guitarist George Kooymans that the nascent song sounded like it was about Marilyn Monroe. It develops when the narrator meets the Vanilla Queen in a dream sequence, which is supplemented by samples of Monroe's voice from the musical There's No Business Like Show Business." |

Ten Years After – Love like a man Lyrics | 2 years ago |
I think it is about a woman that "dates" around, like a young man, anything willing to hop in the sack. (think when you were 21 guys) But she always seems to come back to him and he always goes for it. She leaves, scores another guy then back to old reliable. And he willingly takes her back when she bats those eyes. |

Frank Zappa – Willie The Pimp Lyrics | 2 years ago |
@[metal_advocate:37436] 3 days ago?!?! You need more than 3 days just to listen to his catalog. You have to start with the first, "Freak Out". It could have been written today, much less the mid 60's. Make sure you crank up "Live At the Fillmore East" for your neighbors to enjoy too. It's "based" on a "true" story. And yes, that is Flo and Eddie from the original Turtles singing their biggest hit. |
