I think the song is about someone committing suicide or who already has and is looking back on those they left behind, and wanting them to move on. "maybe in five or ten YOURS AND MINE will meet again and straighten this whole thing out" implies that two families are getting together, not two people "am I already gone?" meaning is it too late to save me "Really no way to reach me" meaning no way to convince them to stay The song has a double meaning or perhaps triple meaning. Either two people dating who split. or someone thinking about committing suicide or someone who already has. |
