Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 3 years ago
People, it's OBVIOUSLY about him coming out as Bi which was not easy back in the 70s. Usually you just denied it like many other artists. The gun is a penis. The person that died was Freddie fake life as a heterosexual with his girlfriend. He was admitting he was bi since he'd been with a guy. And he was worried about how everyone and his family would take it. And that a certain kind of life was dead, and now he had a new life as a bi man. "Shivers down my spine" is orgasism with a male partner. How is this not obvious.

Mac Miller – Self Care Lyrics 3 years ago
This song makes a number of references to the hard drugs Mac was battling with and that ultimately put him in the wood box.

The first half is about running around intoxicated and "sliding into" taxis and rolling out. And not being able to see. He can't and doesn't drive because he's messed up being out. Flying home in a taxi, windows down, very drunk. He admits he and the friends he is doing H have "fucked up". "Demons as big as a house". We know and he new he had gotten in too deep. He went "over the wall" from alcohol and pot to the purple juice codeine and then the big H. He can only look up to the nice fun life he could enjoy if he had not gotten addicted.

The second part of the song, is smooth and warm, he is writing from within one of his nightly opiate highs. "Oblivion" is the opiate high. He's stuck but he's rich enough to take enough to get high enough that it is pleasant and warm. It's a beautiful feeling, but it's deadly, but it feels good in the hard high. We know he was sitting home a lot mostly alone. But a few druggie friends coming by. Love? But she was not "down". Ariaria did not like his drug habit and repeated it often to him and always threatening to leave the last 6-12 months.

Band of Horses – Shut-In Tourist Lyrics 4 years ago
This is about visiting his old dad who has old ideas and old man ways. His wife and kids are still sleeping. So the writer just agrees with old man about politics just to be a good son but doesn’t believe it really. Been there

John Lennon – God Lyrics 4 years ago
1970s - Easy - he's explaining how it feels after he's fallen from the great faith and action high that he as a celebrity was engulfed in. He was a loud voice in the social revolution and he burned out and the bubble popped (for him). He used to believe in many of these things, but is totally disenchanted. And then the only thing left is his simple household life with Yoko

@[readyfreddie:30812] THIS ONE is the correct one people. COMING OUT as an artist back then WAS NOT EASY. "I killed a man" - he killed his old fake hetro persona. "Put a gun to his head" - a penis. "I shot him now he's dead". Hetro Freddie is dead. "Sending shivers down my spine" - gay sex was his turn on. Of course, he was facing but just sex, but a wilder lifestyle. "Gone and through it all away". - he old life with family and hetro gf and friends Maybe even his career (1970s people). He will have a new life now. "Any way the wind blows" - obviously bisexuality. "Bodies aching all the time" - having a lot of gay sex. Liberated now.

@[paulotheman:30811] Not AIDS, his coming to grips with being homosexual and no having to come out. Which was not easy back then

@[DrStrangelove55:30809] You are correct. It's about the struggle with his move from hetro to bi to home and coming out which was MUCH HARDER back then.

Tom Waits – Diamond in Your Mind Lyrics 4 years ago
@[weekendsammy:30808] Waits likely went to a lecture by Chalmers and the Dali Lama talking about the mind. East meets west. These were very popular many years ago.

Tom Waits – Diamond in Your Mind Lyrics 4 years ago
This is obvious to a practitioner of Tibetan buddhism. Waits even mentions the Dali Lama in the current top youtube video for this song. In TB, we have a "Diamond Mind" meditation. Diamond Mind is an aspect of an "enlightened" "buddha" or mind. The "three-figured Dave" is a reference to statues showing mudras with are finger positions used during deep meditations. There are references to Tara - the female buddhas in TB. Often females sit with male aspects in statues. Waits says she's lashed to a windmill. He's obviously describing a statue of a male and female union forms. Chalmers is a famous author of a book about the mind - whom I don't doubt mentioned Tibetan monks deep knowledge of the mind through billions of repeitions of mantras and other practices. She's got the milk of human kindness. Many statues show a buddha with a bowl in front. Like half. This bowl contains nectar of compassion. There is no doubt here folks.
