One of the greatest songs by Lou Reed, although the version that's on Loaded was heavily edited. Remastered versions have put this to right. Although it is odd to think that the album came out without Reed actually being in the band. He had left and decided to name it "Loaded", because he knew it would be an album "loaded" with hits. What an amazing song and what a great album! I think the song works in two ways. The first is literal. It's a song of depression at the passing of time. There's great imagery as if seeing a character stumble home after a night out. Secondly, it works as a great epilogue for the Ziggy character. This can be interpreted in numerous ways, naturally. But, it is a device to kill of Ziggy Stardust and let him face away in a blaze of light, a rock n roll suicide.
