@[sagewisdom:29103] I see your point but this lyric stands out to me as obvious suicide: "All this running around I can't fight it much longer Something's trying to get out And it's never been closer" What would be trying to escape from him if he was doing psychedelic drugs? It is probably a dark song about suicide or overdose. The beauty of these lyrics is they are a little hard to understand. |

All this noise around the protagonist is overwhelming. “Let it happen” meaning just let suicide happen is going to feel good because he has had years of depression. The voice inside of him is telling him to kill himself because then he will finally feel better. All this running around Trying to cover my shadow An ocean growing inside All the others seem shallow All this running around. More feelings of being overwhelmed. Confused by the world and confused by society the others seem shallow. Feeling of not belonging. An ocean growing inside me… not sure about that one. All this running around Bearing down on my shoulders I can hear an alarm Must be morning Again, all this running around. Similar to before. “I can hear an alarm must be morning” Not sure about that one.. maybe a failed attempt? Many attempts perhaps before going through with it… OR OR I can hear an alarm must be morning... perhaps he decided a TIME when he would kill himself I heard about a whirlwind that's coming 'round It's gonna carry off all that isn't bound, and When it happens, when it happens (I'm gonna be holding on) So let it happen, let it happen There was a philosophical saying about life that a whirlwind will come around and pick up everything regardless of what happens- meaning one can’t control anything. When it happens he will let the whirlwind (his suicide, or the current or whatever) carry him. Let it happen let it happen… let his suicide happen let him do this and let him be in peace. He is speaking of suicide. I can’t fight it much longer is the depression taking over- somethings trying to get out and its never been closer- again the depression he feels finally catching up to him and winning. If my ticker fails is if his attempt fails, let it not be known. Make up some other story to spare loved ones. If he never comes back, tell everyone he is sorry for leaving them behind. "I will not vanish, you will not scare me Try to get through it, try to push through it You were not thinking that I will not do it They be lovin' someone and I'm another story" Hmmm. These are quite harder. You were not thinking that I will not do it. You were not thinking … meaning you were not realizing that I will not do it.. you weren’t suspecting I would do this or not go through with this I will not vanish you will not scare me is him speaking directly to death They be loving’ someone and I’m another story… perhaps he didn’t find the love of his life? Or has a lack of love in his life? I’m another story- I’m not a romantic success. "Take the next ticket, get the next train Why would I do it? Anyone'd think that Will not vanish, you will not scare me" Again suicidial ideation here.. why would I do it meaning perhaps sorry or an apology to loved ones. |
