The Moody Blues – The Dream Lyrics 1 year ago
These are the lyrics for "Your Wildest Dreams" This is for "The Dream"

When the white eagle of the North is flying overhead
And the browns, reds and golds of autumn lie in the gutter, dead
Remember then the summer birds with wings of fire flaying
Come to witness spring's new hope born of leaves decaying
As new life will come from death, love will come at leisure
Love of love, love of life and giving without measure
Gives in return a wondrous yearn of a promise almost seen
Live hand-in-hand and together we'll stand on the threshold of a dream

Syd Barrett – Baby Lemonade Lyrics 1 year ago
@[Black:43695]&GreenAchilles Brillant observations of one of my favorite composers and musicians. You show so much insight to his mind. I never thought he was insane, just totally misunderstood. He saw the world in a completely different way. I watched a rerun of the "The X-Files" last night and Syd's music played heavily into the personality of the kid in it. I heard the music in the background and it was perfect. Bravo and cheers my friend. You wrote this is 2005 so I hope yo get this.

Ya know, sometimes a song is just about what it sings about. It's just a visit to the zoo and they write about how some animals show people characteristics. They write whimsical a lot of times. "She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy. I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera."
It's just about the human experience. It's just a lovely little song that you can sing to your babies and listen to them laugh.

@[falcotron:36922] Beautiful explanation. I love this song. Very bittersweet. I can picture the two of them as young kids, oblivious to the rest of the world but living great fantasy as adventurers. Just a great use of the language. Funny how perfect language can put full "movies" in your head. There was the kid in "Mrs. Peregrine's School..." that could project thoughts as movies. What a great power that could be!

Thomas Dolby – One of our Submarines Lyrics 3 years ago
To all of you that replied to this and gave comments, a great thank you! It's nice to know others can be captivated as much as I was. A movie called "Virus" can out about that time and part of it involved a sub being missing during a search to save the world from the virus. I always connected the two in my head at the time. It was a British sub. Weird connection but it made the song even spookier to me. Now that I know more it's even better. Thank you good people!

@[pinkfloydsydbarrett:36498] Eiderdowns (A bed covering lined with the feathers of a female duck for those that don't understand the reference) is a marvelous thing to lay upon in a field. He lays upon it and it feels like one of the clouds in a "sky so blue". Nothing really creepy about it. He had an innocent mind. Evil people helped destroy that innocence and didn't get him the help he so obviously needed. Richard Wright cared for him greatly but couldn't go against the band.

@[AlanOldie:36495] That's an OUTSTANDING observation about the satellites. Telstar was relatively new tech. I'm glad to see you don't jump on "it's about drugs and getting high!" bandwagon. Nicely said Alan. All of Sid's songs were about other things than most people wold see in the lyrics.

The Hollies – The Air That I Breathe Lyrics 3 years ago
This is one of the most incredible songs ever written. This is about a man deeply in love. "If I could make a wish I think I'd pass." Think about that. He's in bed with his truest love. He honestly doesn't feel the need for anything else. The background melody represent the calm total satisfaction of his life. She is his world. Think about how wonderful that would be in your own life. The harmonies of the chorus 'all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you." are all the things that are good in life coming together at that moment to give him the perfect gift in THEIR lives, because she, of course, is feeling the total devotion of his love. No thoughts. Just an experience.
There are some things production wise of the release that I'd change but the 2008 remaster is a good version. I wish everyone that reads this finds a love like the song describes.

Red Rider – Lunatic Fringe Lyrics 3 years ago
@[Ktroidl:35547] Great analysis of the song and lots of history on it. I woke up this morning and
it was the first thing that popped into my mind. I'm an old guy and this was just a vauge recollection but it seemed clear as a bell . I asked Alexa to play it for me and it gave me goosebumps. It seemed so relevant for today after Mr. Biden was recognized as the winner of our election. I could just see all these right-wing nut cases with all their hate and all their guns out in the street wanting to stop this transition because of the nut case we have in the White House right now. I lived through Vietnam and have seen a country divided. I've NEVER seen our country in this bad a shape. I hope that we can pull it together again, but I am concerned about that "Lunatic Fringe" that's out there which luckily is in plain view and we can see them coming.

Angel Olsen – High & Wild Lyrics 3 years ago
I have to agree this is her best song. When she sings the part "If you don't see me anymore" is heart wrenching. She sounds like she has lived this. I have it on one of my mixes and she just plain gets to me. The sincerity of it. Not to mention the overall sound of it. I don't know how to explain the sound but it's the "drone" of some horn or something when she's singing that line. I just like it. I'd like to see her in concert.

@[imagodoc:30406] Ah! A great Pinder fan! I absolutely agree with you on this magnificent musician. The Mellotron was a game changer. It mimicked the slide into a "trip" and I know that from personal experience. I was a more than moderate user of the "best way to travel" and it did change my life. I felt like I knew secrets of the universe. You and I might be about the same age so you know what I'm talking about. I stayed a big fan until Pinder left, then it just struck me a so so.. The messages seemed to not carry the power they did before. Their sound completely changed. But I have all the vinyl from the early days and CD backups. They aren't a band. They are a secret religion. :)

@[wuxingwarrior:30403] It's funny. The acid take is throughout this thread. I'd have to agree to a point as I did listened to this whole album on original blotter acid and it seemed to be written just for me and it tried to explain my pain and my pleasure. When he talks of the wind all around me it seemed he was telling me that it was a living thing and to feel it as such and I swear it seemed to be going through me, around me and I could hear voices telling me to let go and it would take the pain away. Sorry guys..a little wordy and maybe a little silly but I'm a huge believer in certain chemicals for the mind to free us from the pain on this existence. ..

@[Isabela96:30402] My thoughts exactly but I discovered them back in the vinyl days and had the pleasure of the full artwork by Mr. Dean. (I had to buy a huge coffee table book to find all his work...worth every penny) It's nice to hear your comment, a kindred soul..

All I'm sure of is the final two lines "How can the wind with so many around me
I feel lost in the city!" just moves me to tears sometimes. I saw Jon do this and it was so heartfelt I just felt his loneliness in the terrible crowds he must have endured from city t city. I LOVE this song.

Yes – Shoot High Aim Low Lyrics 5 years ago
I'd always imagined this as a drug smuggling song. South American or someplace like that. Steel guitars, blue sedans, "someone shouted open the door. LOOKOUT! An ambush by either the other drug runners or the military trying to take the drugs and the expected profit from them. " So fast the expedition, so vast this heavy load. The loaded trucks moving quickly through the back roads
The crimson sand, toward the evening when they pick up the "cargo". "Underneath the skin,a feeling , a breakdown..." a premonition of a dangerous trip, a feeling of foreboding on this trip

I could go on, but I'm probably so far off base I'd hate to insult anyone.
