New Order – Blue Monday Lyrics 5 years ago
@[SensationalConscience:28003] The war interpretations started when a journalist wrote an article linking the Falklands conflict to the song. It's been denied by the band, there's quite a few New Order lyrics with war references.

@[acidjack:28002] Never heard or read that before. Been a fan since 1980. Seen them over 30 times live. I'd know if that was the meaning of the lyrics.

@[clamchips:28000] Total BS! Nothing to do with Curtis. In an interview after Blue Monday was released. Sumner said that 'Pounds, shillings and pence was a big influence'. Seeing that the English money had already been decimalised the comment doesn't make sense until you understand that pounds, shillings and pence was abbreviated to LSD. They often took small amounts of acid in the studio to spark creativity around this period. The Blue Monday lyrics refer to and mean nothing.

Steely Dan – Peg Lyrics 5 years ago
@[jankout:27999] Don't buy your interpretation of the bass line in the chorus inferring a porn movie. The slap bass technique employed by Chuck Rainey was a hot topic at the time it was recorded. In the Aja documentary, Rainey even says he had to sneak the slap element in as the band didn't want him to use it.
