John Lennon – Crippled Inside Lyrics 5 years ago
I always thought this was yet another attempt to take a shot at Paul. A bit more nuanced of an attempt as compared to How Do You Sleep but I don't know. He brings up race so I think it may be more of a broad message to a certain type of person. The kind of person who needs to check themselves before they wreck themselves. ,)

Paul Simon – The Obvious Child Lyrics 5 years ago
@[twollamalove:27866] Paul Simon is Jewish so is he just interpreting someone elses life journey? I did hear that he was watching the papal visit of the USA on TV and the pope was giving mass at Yankees Stadium and thats where the lyric comes from but you know what the best thing about music and lyrics and even poetry is? Its all subjective. Nobodys wrong If it evokes an emotion that differs from someone elses or even that of the composers.

Pearl Jam – Off He Goes Lyrics 5 years ago
For some reason Ive always felt like he was referring to a father. I dont know why because everybody whos has commented have pretty much said its an old friend but I always related this song to a young kid who rarely sees his dad and every so often out of nowwhere his dad shows up and they spend a small period of time together and the son loves him regardless of the abandonment and lack of presence. I dont know why I see it this way. I come from a two parent home. Really would have liked my dad to be around less possibly. Lol. Just kidding. I mean... I love the guy but come on man. A break would have done wonders for everyone. Haha.

Pink Floyd – Astronomy Domine Lyrics 5 years ago
@[inpraiseoffolly:27865] I see multiple stages of Floyd constantly too. There is Piper and the Barrett period. Then the lull period which included More and Obscured by Clouds. This was the period where Floyd was trying to piece it all together, post Syd. Then the Meddle/Dark Side period. I Think those two albums are very much fused together. They represent the period where the band seemed to figure it out. Find their niche or voice. Then Wish You were here is all one period. This is the period where they realized how far they had come and wanted to look back but they knew that dragon was long ago slain. Imagine how that must have really seemed true when they figured out Syd was sitting right there amongst them during a recording session. Then Animals is an entire period on its on. It really represents their touring period. This was them selling their sound by the pound. Milking the cow for every drop they could squeeze out of it. Some people like claim this period was responsible for them taking a step back in the studio. I hear many people say they dont care for Animals all that much. I disagree wholeheartedly. Its personally my favorite Floyd album. The Wall is another entirely different and separate period of course. You can include the Final Cut in this period too for obvious reasons. This was the unraveling period. The divorce. Of course we get a front row seat for it all snd Floyd is one of those groups who could thrive and flourish through the conflict and even use thst to motivate snd inspire. Similar to Fleetwood Mac during the making of Rumors. The next period is the rebranded floyd of the late 80's and 90's. Dont get me wrong. I Enjoy Momentary Lapse and Division Bell but its obviously not quite Floyd. No Rodger is like a Beatles reunion without John. The product would still be enjoyable and interesting but its obviously lacking a key component.

David Bowie – Life on Mars? Lyrics 5 years ago
I knew this song well long before I actually took a look at the lyrics and I was so blown away with how wrong I had gotten the lyrics for all these years.

For starters, I always thought he was saying, take a look at the wrong man beating up that one guy. I thought maybe it was some really bad film cherography or something. Like a badly made western where if you looked closely in the background of a specific scene. Maybe a scene where indians and cowboys are brawling it out on the prairie. If you focus, you'll notice an indian punch another indian by mistake. Or maybe the gaffer is acidently in the shot and he is getting punched out. Haha... Anyways...

The other lyrics I got wrong. I always thought he was saying " now the workers have struck a vane." As in they have stuck oil. They have returned to productivity after some lull in progress. The line right after that is, " cause Lennons on sale again." I technically heard the lyric right but I actually thought he was referring to the fabric like material. Not John Lennon.

the lyric "Rule Britannia is out of bounds." I Thought he was saying " The rule they bend in is out of bounds." I dont know. I learned long ago that its very important to read the actual lyrics. If I never did then I would probably still think the Ramones are declaring "lets kick butt!" Everytime they sing "Blitzkrieg bop." Haha
