Hot Chocolate – You Sexy Thing Lyrics 5 years ago
As a kid I always thought he sang 'I believe in Milkos' (thinking it was some type of sweet or something). But my friend thought it was 'I believe in milkmen', which is a far cooler lyric.

Bauhaus – She's In Parties Lyrics 5 years ago
'Loonatik and Drinks' are a short film production firm in Nottingham - so my guess is Bauhaus are giving some them an appropriate shout-out in a song all about film.

David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust Lyrics 5 years ago
Regardless of all the interpretations (me, I think it's part fantasy combo-character and part a projection of what Bowie wanted to be) my fave line is 'with just the beer light to guide us'. For all the glam imagery, it gives me such a strong picture of Bowie/Ziggy/the band opening a bar fridge after a gig for a cold one - it's so mundane it's hilarious.

Wire – 12XU Lyrics 5 years ago
The line 'got you in a cottage' is missing from the 'got you in a corner' verse - and adding this gives a possible change to the meaning as it's UK slang for a public place where gay men cruise for sex. It makes the first line about 'fag' much more ambiguous. That said, Wire also sing about models in magazines in the song 'Mannequin' so the first verse could also simply be as it reads. I love how they play with language in their lyrics.

Bauhaus – Boys Lyrics 5 years ago
I reckon they're singing about themselves, through a glam lens, and the process getting ready to perform at early gigs. They wore a lot of make-up at the time and looked very androgynous. There's probably some piss-taking too, as they were getting lots of Bowie comparisons.
