Tokyo kitty likely refers to the good luck cat figurines that stand (like sentinels) in buildings in Japan. See Wikipedia's maneki-neko page. Oddly the biggest google result for tokyo kitty is for a karaoke bar in Cincinnati... it's probably not that. ;-) |

Pavlovian despair, what an apt description of social media. But I don't read it as a rejection of technology, but a more a need to find balance, to be able to put away gadgets and experience life in the moment, to find the "sentience beyond." |

Agree it's about overcoming fear and procrastination, about the need to make the effort despite the fear of failure. To me the most enigmatic line is "without you to remind me" suggesting it is a deeper kind of fear, not just the fear of cleaning out your email inbox ("ominous and daunting"!), but the feeling you have after losing someone important and not knowing how to move forward. Maybe someone has died, or just gone away. Very different, but reminds me a little of an Offspring song. |
