Billy Joel – Stiletto Lyrics | 2 years ago |
This song is about a malignant narcissist. They love hurting people. They derive fulfillment from watching the effects of their vitriol on people, even family, bcuz narcs don't recognize family. You are no more sacred being the mother or father of a narc than the panhandler down the street. Narcissism is a form of sociopathy, and they can't help heir thought processes but narcs will never admit to narcissism. They enjoy their power too much. She cuts you once She cuts you twice And still you believe |

@roxanenora 1 Yes, I can definitely get behind this interpretation. I believe this is what he wanted to convey. |

Adele – Hello Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I never cared for Adele, until I heard "Hello". This is a page ripped from my life. |
HIM – (Don't Fear) The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult cover) Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I think this song is about suicide. At the time it was written, forty thousand people committed suicide everyday around the world. |
Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[thebirdie:24560] This was a deep analytical interpretation, and I can totally see it as you've laid it out. See, sometimes I get stumped, and I thought it was about someone who died and is in heaven and doesn't think he belongs there because he's autistic or has some impairment where people have shunned him his whole life. Silly me |
The Beatles – Happiness Is a Warm Gun Lyrics | 6 years ago |
A buddy ole'pal if mine told me it's about not missing much on shooting up. The Beatles have always been over my head. Their lyrics are quite philosophical and full of double entendre's. They are all ( what's real can't die) very intelligent and excellent writers. |
Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Phil says "If you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand". Nothing in verse about somebody actually drowning. The key word here people is "IF", which always means maybe, hypothetically, depends on, etc. etc.. This song is quite adaptable to life and times. We've all known of soulless individuals who make our blood run cold, maybe even had an encounter, as in "first time last time we met". Never does the person want to interact again with this, shall we say, " villain?" |

@[slowhand1:24557] That was excellent also. Didn't see it at first. |

Thank you zosoking and oldfart. I'm generally pretty good at deciphering song meanings, and that's to say I don't even believe what the artists say publicly about the meaning of their songs. They say what the record company or publicists tell them to say. I don't know history(damn those dry windbag history teachers, cuz I fell in love with the past after an animated History major friend in my life) so I'm glad people do and share that knowledge. |
Montrose – Bad Motor Scooter Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Sammy just turned 70 and he looks great!!! Montrose has stood the test of time. That's not an easy task. Some groups sound so whiny and maudlin. Not Montrose, not Sammy. |
Van Morrison – Into The Mystic Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Magnificently is one of the most beautiful words in the English language. |
James Ingram – Yah-Mo Be There Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I knew Michael was singing "up and over". It just made sense. |
Genesis – Mama Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Don't believe what the band tells you. They are only repeating what their publicists feel is societally acceptable. They are trying to not lose any money from the fans via unfavorable responses to content. Most bands lie about song meanings. It's not something they wish to share, so they fabricate. Music is interpretive anyway. I don't give a shiitake about anybody's meaning other than my own. |
Genesis – Mama Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Mama is about a heroin addict who is hustling for his fix, because it's starting to wear off and he's feeling sick. Mama is the junk, the dope, the heroin. |
Foals – What Went Down Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I pondered on this song so hard, I burned out on it. 1. I used to run around singing " When I see .... I see a liar" because I didn't like ""see a lion" which was the line that came up on Google, lyric sites, yadda yadda. Now, it seems the line has changed universally to " see a liar" even though the video shows a lion, and the line is ""see a lion". Very frustrating. Another disputed line was "sycophantic animal" as opposed to " sympathetic animal". Anyway, I was thinking it had to do with war and military coups. "With the lights and the roses and the cowards downtown" I guess the White House is well lit(?) It has a rose garden They call the Senate the offices "downtown" and they are full of cowards. "They threw me a party no one around", I was thinking about how the Vietnam vets got no parade in their honor. "Tried to call my girl, could not be found" She left him, probably protesting, because soldiers in Vietnam were hated by America. "Rust, vultures, trash downtown" Wash DC again but this time we as a nation are not innocents as to the agenda of politicians and their reasonings for war and invasions. "Don't step to me kid, you'll never be found, cuz while you were sleeping I took over your town" Desert Storm(?) CIA(?) Then the "buried my heart", " buried my guilt" The politicians become the "sin-eaters" for the atrocities of war(?) That's all folks. IDK, I just hope songs are not "simple simon says". I put alot of brain power into deciphering meanings. |
Foals – What Went Down Lyrics | 6 years ago |
This song has driven me bonkers. I don't agree with anything I read about the meaning, even if it's in Rolling Stone. I have a few more years on those bucks, and not everything is about relationships relationships, I'm sick of relationship songs.. |
