(Highway run) - They have been married for a long time and know the vows of staying together to continue moving forward. (Wheels go round and round-your on my mind), Well aware of the neglect, but he's not purposely doing it, he cares how she feels, so it's making him think about what is best for the situation, it can be very stressful, keeping love alive (Restless hearts sleep alone tonight), a very depressing time where there is no further communication, again "Roommates". (Sending all my love along the wire)- communication through thoughts. (They say that the road ain't no place to start a family). Most likely caring and concerned family members ask them to hold off with the thoughts of having children as this will not resolve their issue since it's a long haul before they get it together. So hence, (right down the line it's "You and Me"). (Loving a music man ain't what it's supposed to be) You can talk, but in reality, you need to do it. He's always distant with thoughts of wanting to do (Music man), hard to take the lead as a husband or what a husband should look like. (Boy deep! lol) (Oh Girl) "He is in aw" (You stand by me, I'm forever yours, Faithfully). He will not be abusive in looking for another love, he really appreciates her and he will honor his vows, forever! (Circus life, under the big-top world, we all need clowns to make us smile) People always exaggerate how well their own relationships are super wonderful and sometimes it's really those people hiding their own marriage problems they don't want others to see, so they lie. - But it makes them smile because they can both see through this and can agree that people can be fake. (Through space and time "Always another show") more and more people give them advice they can't even follow. So he wonders where he is in all this. He can't get it all right on his own, hence (Wondering where I am? LOST WITHOUT YOU). He knows she has got it together and if he listened to all those people, he would be Lost and could lose her. (Being apart ain't easy in this love) - "No matter what", She has stuck by his side - They are pretty much roommates in their marriage/drifting. But he recognizes her efforts to stay put and appreciates her for not letting go through the downs. But then he finally knows her, and that she is a very special person. He realizes he has been missing someone special and she starts to feel that from him and they (fall in love again). (I get the joy of rediscovering you), He finally GOT IT! Life is a learning process. People can give advice, even tell you what you should do, but it's ultimately up to you. |

2 teens. He gave his heart whole-souled, she claimed to do the same. This was the wrong time for this type of relationship for her, still young at heart, still a little immature in a sense. He knew where he wanted to be with her, his search was over. Something happens, she dumps him, no questions asked. He leaves himself extremely vulnerable, cries, and asks her to come back, she didn't actually feel as strong of a heart as previously stated. He just cannot move on, 10-20-30-40 years later, no matter where he is in life, emptiness continues to haunt him. He keeps every memory of her alive, just can't move on. Looks for her, finds her. He is so scared and nervous to finally speak after so many years. She just wanted to confirm in her mind if she still had a hold of him, so agrees to catch up. He tries hard to deflect any thought in her mind that he can still never stop loving her but says he just found her to apologize for anything he may have done in the past to ever offend her. She laughs at first and seems to enjoy saying "I dumped your butt", but then asked, "Who did you go to prom with, what is your life like now"? He humbly goes with the conversation, but is dying inside and doesn't want her to know she still has a hold on him. She straight out lets him know "not to get excited and think there is something here because she responded", don't think you got it made, don't tell your friends about the two of us. She dumps him again by leaving him in the blank, never giving him closure, knowing that she still has the upper hand. etc, etc Like the old song say's "Love Hurts" Another song that remains: A Flock of Seagulls - Wishing. It was given to her during the conversation as a song that reminded him of her, he still wonders if she will ever think about him or if he was forgotten once again right after that wound was slightly touched on and a newer scare emerged. Boy! |

I agree with Bridget 104. He fell hard. He opened everything up to her, she didn't feel as in love with him as she made it seem. Something happens, she may have lost interest and dumped him. He doesn't know how to handle this dying misery, so instead he thinks out loud to himself trying to deny his hopeless feelings and despair. He never threw away all the memories of her, he Doesn't Want To. He knows she's never coming back and he can't move on. He knows her circle of friends, is probably embarrassed because she told them she dumped him. So everything is the opposite, he's talking to emptiness. He's in So Much Pain (BIG BOYS DON'T CRY). Trying to collect himself back to life. Not in love so DON'T forget it, it's just a silly phase I'm going thru. He is trying to push through it ALL. And "just because " I call you up (why do you get so mad, I'm not asking you back, I just want to know how you are doing...You know it's no big deal, I just want to possibly be friends "You know it doesn't mean that much to me. Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made. like to see you, but then again, That doesn't mean you mean that much to me. So if I call you, don't make a fuss - Don't tell your friends about the two of us I'm not in love, no no, it's because (it's because he knows, she knows why he keeps calling, he feels like a child, she sees right through him) I keep your picture on the wall. It hides a nasty stain that's lying there. (he cannot let go of her, her face, he can't lose her even if in a photo) So don't you ask me to give it back? (She could care less about the photo and he knows it, so he continues with) I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me. Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me. Ooh, you'll wait a long time. Opposite feeling. He is humiliated, hurt, probably embarrassed and he's the one who will desperately Wait A Long Time for her to ever come back. Another good song to hit on this is "Against All Odds by Phill Collins". She's the only one who really knew him at all. This was All The Love he would ever have in his life for ANYONE. Self-loathing sounds so selfish, not sure I would call it that. Just a person who was cut like a knife without closure. I guess it's like they say, nothing will ever replace your first true love. But you are right, this song haunts me as if it were yesterday, especially the very first lyrics: This is what she said "Go now don't look back, we've drawn the line.
