I think Editors made a song about the struggles in a relationship (send me to venus= love; mars= fight) But with growing fear (colliding stars). He then experiments and succeed but ends bad, his first scar (break from tradition/ tear). As in daily life he has to give all to succeed (whole pack). He keeps trying and failing. The other people feasts (dance on sparks and broken heart) on his failures and scars, so he gives up (burn it all down) with little hope left (would you hold on?) until the kings (wisdom) come on the sound of his rib cage. But for now his heart stays alone in the dark and maybe forever as he gives up? |

I think what Deep Purple means with child in time that the child growing up loses its innocence when he or she has to choose between doing good or doing bad. Bad people are blind and frustrated because they shoot at the world and other people. They make kills but everyone is at sooner or later once been bad, so everybody should wait for the ricochet or the bounce back of their bullets |

for me War Pigs is about the politicians who rule the world, wicked as witches so the people would burn them. They poison the people with their hatred to each other (the war machine) but never fight the wars. (that is for the poor) who they treat as pawns in their games of chess. But the reckoning and the judgement day will come by God. Taking them away to hell by satan (satan spreads their wings) |

for me, Black Sabbath's Iron Man is about a good man turned to steel or iron by what he is put through on earth (the great magnetic field, we'll pass him). He has never got love nor friendship (nobody helps him/ nobody wants him/ nobody cares for him). He has traveled the future and the past simultaneously (traveled time for the future of mankind) and sees that mankind never has changed and tries to warn them. Instead he is abandoned by all and plots his revenge (vengeance from the grave). Killing people he wanted to save with lead and fear (bullets and dread). Or killing himself as the final hurt to the people whom likened him once. (killing them with sorrow, his haunting, his vengeance from the grave, he lives again in their heads) His time has come! I AM IRON MAN. One of the best songs ever! |
