First off, this is my favorite TDCC song because of all the deep interpretations we get from its lyrics. When I listen to this song, it helps open my mind to the idea that this life may not be all that we have; almost like we are all in one big dream. Now, I am a Christian and believe what the Bible has to say about there being a Heaven and Hell. I also understand that the singer is searching for a peace of mind; and he mentions that he knows of someone who has reached this peace of mind. Perhaps this person is like the rest of us and has found a certain truth, perhaps this person has passed away, maybe this person is someone who knew about the glory of Heaven before He came into the world. Whichever it is, the singer wants to be like him. In the final chorus, the singer says that there is a chance that he may not "be here" in the morning; which would mean that if he was no longer here then he did find the deepest desires in his mind, which could be anything. For me, the deepest desire in my mind is my salvation which only comes through Christ. |

Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't necessarily say that this song is a romantic one. I think Tim left it interpretive on purpose so that many of us can relate to the lyrics, because we all have different experiences. That's my favorite part about Keane. This song generally makes me think of the beauty of forgiveness and how hard it can be to forgive at times. |

Keane is my favorite band because their songs are so interpretive. This song means something different to each person as it places words like "other side" and "light" to leave for the interpreter. When I listen to this song, as a Christian I can't help but think of "bending and breaking" as not putting my trust in Christ and giving up hope and "the light" being Heaven. |
