Master P – I Got the Hook Up Lyrics 2 years ago
It's not "Ughhhhhh"

That's a lazy effort.

It's more like "Eewwwwauuhhhhnnhh"

Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics 5 years ago

While I wouldn't argue with his statement, I do think there's more to it. I struggle to believe this song is mostly about rape in the literal sense. There's definitely some ambiguity.

At the time of its release this was a controversial song, and to make matters worse, a lot of people didn't get it. Some people thought Kurt was condoning rape. He had to defend himself and use his platform properly. Surely, this would have pissed him off enough too where he would make a statement like this. I can't blame him.

To me, however, this song has always been about "friends" who manipulate and exploit you to no end. The acquisition of success and money surely ruined Kurt's ability to trust people and both establish and keep meaningful relationships.

This song, to me, always seemed like a half-capitulation, half-fuck you kind of song to the people who used him.

@[pimpnerd88:28899] You're right. Thurston specifically confirmed that it was about Coco's birth.

Steve Goodman – Between the Lines Lyrics 5 years ago
It reads almost like a suicide note to himself about how realizing how oblivious he is for only now realizing the obvious. He failed. It's a comedy song though, considering the very upbeat rhythm clashing with the very self-depreciating lyrics. Don't take life too seriously, but don't be a fool.

Camera Obscura – James Lyrics 6 years ago
I don't think this song is about suicide at all. I think the entire album is about unrequited love, and this song is no exception.

I think James is about what happened right after the speaker tells him that she can't bear to be around him anymore because it simply hurts too much.

She had found someone so special (James), he was exciting and everything she desired, she thought it had tremendous potential, they experienced beautiful moments together and in the process developed a great friendship. So she finally put herself out there but was rejected, and now she's heartbroken because ultimately that platonic love of theirs "had to place to grow." He doesn't want to lose her friendship, but she can't cope with the the unrequited intensity of her feelings of him.
