Mr. Mister – Kyrie Lyrics 2 years ago
Kyrie Eleison. means "Lord have mercy upon us," and with Christe Eleison, "Christ have mercy upon us," occurs in all Greek liturgies, in the Roman Mass, and in the English Prayer Book.< (copy-paste) I looked it up :)

Van Halen – Jump! Lyrics 3 years ago
For me, this is a positive tune and isn't about suicide. "You won't know until you begin", which means taking chances on what could be real.

Culture Club – Karma Chameleon Lyrics 5 years ago
In an interview, Culture Club frontman Boy George explained: "The song is about the terrible fear of alienation that people have, the fear of standing up for one thing. It's about trying to suck up to everybody. Basically, if you aren't true, if you don't act like you feel, then you get Karma-justice, that's nature's way of paying you back.

U2 – Vertigo Lyrics 5 years ago
I found his comment about this song in the book U2 by U2. In the case of "Vertigo", I was thinking about this awful nightclub we've all been to. You're supposed to be having a great time and everything's extraordinary around you and the drinks are the price of buying a bar in a Third World country. ...you're just looking around and you see big, fat Capitalism at the top of its mountain, just about to topple. It's that woozy, sick feeling of realizing that here we are, drinking, eating, polluting, robbing ourselves to death. And in the middle of the club, there's this girl. She has crimson nails. I don't even know if she's beautiful, it doesn't matter but she has a cross around her neck, and the character in this stares at the cross just to steady himself.

Dio – Rock 'n' Roll Children Lyrics 6 years ago
Some of the elements in the lyrics of the song Sacred Heart are used in the music video of Rock 'N' Roll Children. In this video, two kids get in trouble and end up in antique store named Curios. The store belongs to the wizard played by Ronnie James Dio, who seems to have some secret involvement in the matter of their trouble. They hide in a closet and disappear in the nightmare world of the wizard, separate of each other. This dark world of the wizard reflects ordinary society, a hostile world for children of rock 'n' roll, because they don’t want to be enslaved by its rules and authority figures. In the end they find each other and the wizard's game is over.

Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics 7 years ago
Cornell on "The Day I Tried to Live":
It's about trying to step out of being patterned and closed off and reclusive, which I've always had a problem with. It's about attempting to be normal and just go out and be around other people and hang out. I have a tendency to sometimes be pretty closed off and not see people for long periods of time and not call anyone. It's actually, in a way, a hopeful song. Especially the lines "One more time around/Might do it", which is basically saying, 'I tried today to understand and belong and get along with other people, and I failed, but I'll probably try again tomorrow.' A lot of people misinterpreted that song as a suicide-note song.
