I just saw Josh last week. He is wonderful. So humble, so completely talented. It was magical. Kathleen was GREAT, as was his ending song Lawrence, KS. He did a slower version of it and it was a beautiful ending to a wonderful night of music.
I was a fan of his before, but now, I am a HUGE fan. |

This is by far my favorite song on this album. It is his tone that makes it, but the song expresses his loss and his dispair perfectly. I love the "crime scene evidence undisturbed in dust" line to me he has stopped time and wishes she were still there, but he knows she is gone....for good.

Actually, I think the deep sigh at the beginning of the song is the saddest part. I just think it's like he is using all of his energy to get this song out. I think it seems like a profoundly personal song to him. This is one of his best songs, I think.

This turned out to be prophetic for Ryan Adams who wrote it for Beth who broke his heart.
The most haunted lyric for me is "fluctuations only sheets that you moved to be sure it was us" as in ID-ing a corpse by moving the sheet back..and then at the end he says "Cos I'm as dead as you".

This song is about his relationship with Beth Orton. I just figured it out. She obviously really hurt him. It would suck to be a songwriter yourself and have another songwriter (your x) write a song about you.
The lyric that made me understand this was "little daybreaker" the title of her album...and then the obvious "come on Elizabeth" as in Beth and the most obvious... she's English.
Ok, I need to get a life, or become a celebrity gossip writer!
I'm sure her next album will have an answer to him...or maybe she's just so over it by then! |

I actually look at the lyric as he was probably not taking the relationship as seriously as he wished he had now that she has decided to leave. Always hurts more to be the dumpee, and now he's hurting (but not until she left). I think it is a powerful message to not take things for granted...simple things like, cards, rose colored sunsets.

I absolutely love this song. The meaning and the emotion that Ryan conveys. I was appalled that the Corrs covered it so quickly after Ryan's release, but whatever. I just think they missed the boat completely, it actually grinds on my nerves a bit. I am sure it is only because I got used to hearing Ryans version. I like U2 alot, it's just that Ryan.....well, um, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

This is one of my favorite songs...so sad, but so descriptive. I love the symbolism and especially the line "dancing with your shadow, slow, down memorie's hall!" So great.

I think this song is about a girl who died and has come back to comfort her fiance and tell him that she is still with him in spirit. If so, it is a very sweet, but tragic song and a lesson to us all that we must love with everything we have while we have our loved ones with us. |
