never realized that this song is about alcoholism. that makes it a lot more poignant, i think. i can definitely see it, though ; "Drink up with me now and forget all about The pressure of days, do what I say And I'll make you okay and drive them away The images stuck in your head" "Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine Keep you apart, deep in my heart separate from the rest, where I like you the best And keep the things you forgot" drugs/alcohol/substances can easily be used as a crutch to help deal with everything that happens in life. unfortunately, dependency on these things are the worst. this song is amazing. |

so this song is about drugs, plain and simple. it will always have a special place in my heart, as it was one of the first elliott songs i listened to, and i went through a eerily similar situation with someone. anyway. i wanted to point out that in the end, even after everything that happens, the author realizes that none of this matters. none. hence the repeating lines ; "Do what you want to whenever you want to Though it doesn't mean a thing Big nothing" and it doesn't. |

hmm...i always saw this song as being about a relationship. (i know daryl said that it was about a friend of his...but i view it more as a romantic type thing) gorgeous imagery and lyricism showcase just how beautiful this song is. after all, it is the only positive song on the album, in general. |

this song comes at the end of motel of the white locust....calm -after- the storm if you will. daryl was obviously hurt by what his ex did to him. the first 12 songs show that. this is the more stripped-down, raw version of it. i don't think he still loves her though. notice how as the song ends, it is followed by static and "fuck you again" it doesnt matter anymore. time to move on. |

my favorite fall out boy song, hands down. love love love the lyrics, so brutal. something awful obviously happened in this relationship for pete to push his girlfriend to suicide "every line is plotted and designed, to leave you standing on your bedroom window's ledge" he doesn't care about how her friends/family will feel, either. "everyone else that it hits, that it gets to, is nothing more than collateral damage" i'm guessing she cheated on him, while possibly drunk. "you should try saying no once in a while" "empty another bottle" etc "i'm the kinda kid that can't let anything go, but you wouldn't know a good thing if it came up and slit your throat" he's not gonna get over the fact that she cheated, not ever. he was too good for her anyway, and she didn't even see it. |

amazing song, amazing lyrics..one of my favorites off of cork tree. this song (along with 7 minutes in heaven) are both about pete's suicide attempt. which is also why they never preform this live. pete is a gifted songwriter, and this song shows it. i could go on for hours about how much i love it....but i'll stop here. |

definitely about an abusive/toxic relationship. there's a lot of questioning going on, as that's what happens in these type of relationships....you start to wonder whether or not this person is worth all your time, love & energy. it's rough. part of her still loves him ; "set a fire in my head tonight" and "i wouldn't leave you if you let me" that's where the abuse part comes in. at the same time though, she knows it's toxic and unhealthy. "i've got my mind made up this time" and "i bet you kiss your knuckles right before they touch my cheek" she also questions whether or not this person loves her as well. "would you bleed for me" & "would you beg or would you crawl, stick a needle in your hungry eyes for me" such lines make you think that this person is only there for a sexual/sadistic reason...they aren't looking for love at all. i adore this song, it's very sad and beautiful. ash almost sounds like she's gonna cry while singing it. raw emotions at their best. |
