This is probably one of the very few unambiguous songs that Floyd have made. The meaning is straightforward, and it hits you like a bullet to the chest. I really do believe that it is extremely difficult to make songs that, both, stick to the context strictly, and are ambiguous. Songs on love and heartbreak are the common niche nowadays. While that takes talent nonetheless, these kinds of songs are what, in my honest opinion, music should be about. My interpretation of the song is just as all the hundreds of awesome people - Time is valuable. Realize when you're wasting it, and try not to. A hidden meaning behind the song MAY be that everyone wastes time, even if you know the value of it. One of my favorite Floyd songs. Rock on, Crazy Diamonds! |

@[ZinbobDan:15302] This. This is the meaning I love the most. It's a dark twist from the otherwise cliched Romeo and Juliet play. Knopfler, being the genius he always was (and still is), makes this song sound so astonishingly nostalgic to everyone, because everyone has gone through this scenario. Thumbs up, @ZinbobDab.
