I write this 1 year after losing my wife to divorce and my son to an unexpected death. "Well my fall from grace was a site to see" Yeah, that was me, and I can't tell you how many times I've prayed for mercy. I got married, had a child and was on top of the world. I had the career, money, house, etc. Then "good turned to bad and bad turned to misery". I lost it all due to forces I have yet to understand. Onset of mental illness in your partner is terrifying. Left me with my own depression and PTSD (due to my son's death). And there really isn't much left of the pre-March 2015 me. But I am still holding on. And yeah, I sure as fuck "found out what it is and what it's not". The perspective I have now compared to 16 months ago is amazing. Talk about not sweating the small stuff.. P.S - If I wrote the song I would change the lyric: "Barely held together by a few old threads" to "Barely held together by a few old friends" I couldn't have made it through this time without my people. |

"Wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then" This is simply the greatest song ever written about the life span of an individual trying to stay true to who he is and navagate a system that tries so hard to beat that individualism out of you. If you can hold it all together running against the wind looks alot different at 40 than it did at 20, but it's still the same concept. |
