The first verse could be about high school romance. You meet the girl/guy of your dreams and date all through high school. You make a cute couple and you could "never want for more" because you've found "the one". Then all of a sudden, graduation rolls around and you both are heading off to separate colleges. Hence, "this ever changing world pushes me through another door". You know it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to continue your relationship, but you can't get that special someone out of your head.
The second verse is definitely dealing with two people that fall in love with each other and want to be a couple, the only problem being that they are two halves of two other couples. |

@[Gmaddox322:14302] Or it could've been that his parent's, particularly his father kept pushing him and pushing him to do one thing when he wanted to do something else, kinda like that kid Neil in Dead Poets Society. He wanted to be an actor and his father pushed him to study medicine, even to the point of pulling him out of the boarding school with his friends and sending him to military school to prepare to go to Harvard. That can be mentally abusive, even to the point of suicide. |
