Paul McCartney – Band on the Run Lyrics 1 year ago
@[Digi:43055]-G "Sent inside forever". Sounds like he's saying life is a prison for him or could be.

Second verse, sort of wishing he wasn't the famous ex-Beatle.

"Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun"

Rain as in a life in misery, the 'sun' could be heroin as that's a slang name for it.

"And the first one said to the second one there
I hope you're having fun"

Hoping they're enjoying the drugs.

"And the jailer man and sailor Sam
Were searching every one"

Jailer man isn't a prison warder, it's cops and Sailor Sam? Maybe uncle Sam, US coastguard searching everyone for drugs.

Also, McCartney could be using a homophone because the word 'band' is also pronounced the same as the word 'banned'.

Banned on the run. What's banned? Drugs.

@[jameskendall:41904] and yet, here we are, judging all Russians by their government. Banning their athletes from competitions including their disabled athletes.

@[garveym:35212] I think it's finally sunk in that he is the person he is, someone who cannot form meaningful relationships and concludes as a result that it's not a life worth living.

All the issues in his relationships boil down to that fact and the penny drops there's no life ahead for him, not one he'd find acceptable.

The band/record company promising him everything (we'll give you everything and more) not understanding that none of this can reach him.

Jethro Tull – Sossity, You're a Woman Lyrics 4 years ago
In the 2013 reissue of Benefit, Ian Anderson wrote in the liner notes: "This obviously is written as a double-meaning where I'm notionally talking about an imaginary girl in frankly a rather thin and embarrassing pun... I suppose what I was referring to was a view of rather affluent if not upper class society, and I suppose a bit of disdain that I might have felt for people who would display wealth and authority without having earned it. I mean, I'm a leftie at heart...

Talking Heads – Listening Wind Lyrics 6 years ago
loupgarous

I note you said your son died in Iraq. Not in Washington or Chicago or LA but Iraq. So what was he doing in Iraq? Invading it. Regime change as Bush said. Regime change is not legal under international law and sadly for you, the world biggest rogue nation is your nation.

The song was written by Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel covered it.

The Shamen – Ebeneezer Goode Lyrics 8 years ago
It's much more than the chorus and reference to 'Veras'.

Drop the letter 'H' from the start of the words in the chorus and re-read the lyrics.
