Okay I know you said this in 2003 and it's now 2016...but if you haven't realised already, I thought I should point it out to you...this song is not gay. Read the lyrics...'You're my lady'. If it was gay it would say 'you're my man', obviously.

This is the true meaning behind the song. Around Memorial Day 2011, Connie Harrington (the writer) was driving home and it was announced over the radio that some Memorial Day stories were up next. Connie said, "A very sweet story came on about a couple in Massachusetts. They had lost one of their sons in Afghanistan, I believe, and they were asked how they coped with the loss. They said, ‘We drive his truck,’ and they went on to describe the stuff that was still in it. They would take the truck out on Sundays. The story really moved me.”
