Nirvana – They Hung Him on a Cross (Demo) Lyrics 8 years ago
This is a Ledbelly song about Jesus dying for the sins of mankind, so that we could be forgiven and have a way into heaven. I am a believer, and I also love Kurt Cobain. Even though Kurt did have a short time in his life that he was a confessing Christian, by the time he begun Nirvana, he no longer followed Christianity. Therefore, I have always wondered if he sang this song to mock Christian beliefs, or if he genuinely did still believe in his heart. I'd like to think that he privately remained a believer, but I don't think he did. Although Ledbelly was one of Kurt's favorite musicians, I find it odd that he would choose to sing this particular song. I suppose he could have been mocking Christian beliefs. The fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins is the foundation belief of Christianity. I have read that Kurt studied Buddhism, but he did not profess to belong to any one religion. Anyway, as a Southerner in Louisiana, and a Christian, and a Nirvana fan for more than 20 years, I LOVE to hear Kurt sing this song. It is beautiful, and it gives me chills every time I hear it.

@[Nutmeg:9569], I know it has been many years since you wrote the previous reply, but I just HAVE to say to you- Although I am a Bible believer and disagree that the Bible is "ludacrously insane" , I MUST say that your reply to the SIMPLETON who gave his UNBELIEVABLY DUMB ASS OPINION OF THE MEANING OF THIS SONG WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN I READ PunkFunkBuzz's STUPID ASS COMMENTS ABOUT THIS SONG!! YOU ARE RIGHT ON, NUTMEG, AND I COMMEND YOU FOR LETTING HIM HAVE IT! I HOPE YOU OPENED HIS FUCKING RETARDED MIND A LITTLE BIT ( IF THAT'S POSSIBLE) , SO THAT HE WILL, AT LEAST, HOPEFULLY, LEARN TO THINK BEFORE HE OPENS UP HIS BIG, IGNORANT, DUMBER THAN DUMB, IMMATURE, SIMPLE MINDED, SHALLOW, BACKWOODS, FUCKING MORONIC , TRITE , MOUTHWASH NEEDING MOUTH!!

@[Reils:9427] I have read that Kurt really liked this song, but I don't know if it was his favorite. I remember on the Mtv unplugged performance Kurt said that Leadbelly was his favorite singer of all time, so I am assuming that this wasn't Kurt's absolute favorite song unless Leadbelly also sang it, and he didn't . But if you have read somewhere that this indeed was Kurt Cobain's favorite song ever, then maybe it was. I could certainly be wrong.

Nirvana – Moist Vagina Lyrics 8 years ago
I love it that he felt feminine. I think it was because he wasn't accepted by his father as a kid. I have 3 sons and it's very important to boys to be accepted into the" mans world" in order for them to feel like men themselves. Kurt was not accepted by his father. I also have wondered if he was possibly molested by a male as a child. That would definitely cause him to know what it is like to be a female and to be used and abused by a stronger male. Kurt was a small guy who was a misfit in his home town. He was probably treated like a weak little homo. I also grew up in a small, bigoted town, and the assholes here can really make life miserable for those of us who don't fit in. Just sayin.

Nirvana – Paper Cuts Lyrics 8 years ago
BAD ASS song! One of my top 3 favorites! I love the way the music sounds. I love the words, and I LOVE the way Kurt's voice sounded! Nobody else can sing like he did! He almost sounds like an animal or something when he screams like he does in this song! Bleach is my favorite Nirvana album.
And this song is obviously about the fury and rage that Kurt felt for his parents and all authority figures in his life. I am not young now like I was in the 90's- there is only a 5 year age difference between me and Kurt Cobain, but even though I am no longer a teen, I can still remember feeling about my family the way that he felt about his. My parents also divorced when I was 9 and it might as well have been a bloody, gory war because my parents nearly murdered each other . None of us got out of it alive- not really. My parents still can't be in the same room - 35 years later. I know exactly how Kurt felt when it comes to his parents divorce. I have read comments on the web where people say, that Kurt was being a bratty self centered baby for complaining about his parents divorce. Those people are clueless. . I'm sure that many of you have had similar experiences. When you're young , innocent, & trusting, and your parents have the nastiest divorce in town, then Everything you ever believed in feels like a lie. Your trust and your innocence are stolen and destroyed. The foundation that your entire life is built on just crumbles beneath your feet. You no longer know who you are anymore and you have no idea who your parents are either. My mom also began partying, drinking and dating alot of creepy assholes, and that shit makes a kid feel vulnerable, unprotected, embarrassed and lost. I'll never get over it . Kurt never got over it either.

Nirvana – Where Did You Sleep Last Night (Lead Belly cover) Lyrics 8 years ago
I think it is about the girl cheating on the man. But possibly in the third verse Kurt meant that he was killed emotionally by her betrayal. His hope and trust were killed, and ultimately, he is killed in reality. But maybe I am repeating what the person who commented above said. Sorry if I am

The first time I heard Kurt sing this song, I sobbed. The pure, honest, raw pain & emotion that emanates from Kurt's voice, and the devotion, love & loyalty that he has for his wayward girl who has betrayed him , just absolutely penetrates the soul of every person who watches and listens to him perform this amazing song. I absolutely agree with the perfectly worded review that Spartacus 51 wrote. And I do remember reading somewhere that Courtney, the filthy bitch, was having some sort of relationship with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins before Kurt's passing( not only afterwards.) But I have never read anywhere if that relationship was a physical one while Kurt was living
I've never seen it confirmed that Kurt even knew about Courtney & Billy, but I do wonder if he did know about it, or if there was possibly some other guy that Courtney was having an affair with , and if that is where his deep emotions come from as he sings this song. Have any of you guys ever read anything confirming that? I'd really like to know. All I can say is that Courtney was/is a damn fool to ever have a relationship with anyone else when she had the most talented, brilliant, sensitive, gentle, loving, kind, unique, and beautiful man that God ever put on this earth. What a damn stupid fool she is!!
