Oasis – Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics 8 years ago
If anyone's heard the Arctic Monkey's live performance at Glastonbury of Mardy Bum, you'll remember Alex added on "at least not today" at the very end. At the time I had no idea it was a line from an Oasis song but when I heard this it made me love the song even more(:

Arctic Monkeys – Piledriver Waltz Lyrics 8 years ago
@[Banezi93:8195] I feel like some of the best Turner songs go completely unnoticed by a large amount of people. I think Piledriver Waltz has some of the most spectacular lyrics.

Arctic Monkeys – No. 1 Party Anthem Lyrics 8 years ago
They kind of dance around each other in the beginning, because he's nervous (seems like a first time experience in the club) and she enjoys the tension. I thought that he sounds like it's not just plain physical attraction because he attaches meaning with sex, unlike this woman. For her, it's just a good time and not a big deal at all. He's warring with these feelings as they're together, because it doesn't make sense, as he doesn't even know her.

I love the first half of the song. The lyrics create such an easily visualized atmosphere and make the listener understand what he's feeling. "Call off the search for your soul, or put it on hold again" is perhaps the greatest song lyric I've heard in my entire life. No. 1 Party Anthem ties for my overall favorite song ever.

Miniature Tigers – Hot Venom Lyrics 8 years ago
He's addicted to this fierce, passionate woman that he's completely idealized. I think in a lot of Miniature Tiger songs, the subject is this beautiful woman who's almost like a goddess because she's very sexual and holds a lot of power over the man singing. He's ruined for all other women because this one is perfect and no one can hold a candle to her.

This was the first Miniature Tigers song I ever heard and it's wonderful.

Miniature Tigers – Dark Tower Lyrics 8 years ago
I think it's definitely about mental illness, most likely anxiety, depression, or both. In the beginning, he's saying, "don't leave me; I need you", but kind of contradicts himself in the next line: "don't follow; you might get hurt".

The dark tower is him being trapped by his own mind, and his mental state is deteriorating further and further. It's almost unreal, this suffering, and he feels powerless to stop it, even though he is the only one that can save himself.

The lyrics are so push-pull, with a battle between selflessness and the desire to be happy. A lot of people with mental illnesses desperately want support and people that care about them, but still end up pushing them away and become isolated, and it exacerbates the problem. He wants her to stay because he loves her, but he wants her to go because he loves her and can't stand the idea of hurting her. His life is a mess and he doesn't want her to suffer because of or with him.

The music itself is obviously very melancholic. I absolutely love this song and it is tied for top overall favorite ever. I can't put into words the intense feelings I experience from Dark Tower. Miniature Tigers are honestly the best.

Everclear – I Will Buy You A New Life Lyrics 8 years ago
@[battaryacid:8193] I think what you're saying is exactly what he was talking about in the song. Money isn't necessary for happiness, but it can be extremely helpful to have. If you're living in a crappy little apartment and have to work incredibly hard just to survive, that sucks. Art wants to provide for the woman he's singing about, pretty much give her the world. However, he can barely afford anything and as such, can't give this woman all he thinks she deserves.
