I actually got from the "And the veterans dream of the fight fast asleep at the traffic light" lyric something more literal than a metaphor. I picture homeless Vietnam veterans sleeping on the benches you would see at an intersection or at a bus stop. Jackson's lyrics are full of rich and descriptive scenery, which is why I love it. You can create a movie in your head every time you listen. |
