John Denver – Take Me Home, Country Roads Lyrics 8 years ago
This is a song I used to sing with my family at family gatherings with our guitars around enormous summer bonfires. Brings back good memories.

Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics 8 years ago
The sound of silence to me is the result of conformity under the guise of originality.

Bon Iver – Skinny Love Lyrics 8 years ago
I don't think this is a song about aa relationship, but of the difficult process the soul undergoes after a harsh breakup.
" Come on Skinny love, just last the year pour a little salt were were never here...Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer."
The singer is pleading with what's left of their will to love to last until the pain is over. Pour a little salt, to feel the pain of the open wound so that it will go away as if it had never seen the gore in the sink ( a metaphor to the aftermath of the breakup).
"I tell my love to wreck it all, cut out all the ropes and let me fall... Right in this moment this order is tall."
This is sort of how most people feel after a break up, he's telling himself that he needs to move on allow himself to love, but his heart fears its too reckless and a tall order.
The chorus is basically the heart yelling at the reckless impulse, its a warning that love to qucikly given is often a gmable that leaves you in more debt than you expected.
"Come on Skinny Love what happened here? Suckle on the hope in life brassiere... Sullen load is full, so slow on the split." Is the person looking at the state of their heart in frustration. It's telling the heart to squeeze out what little hope there is that things will change. The second half is a bit more difficult to interpret, but I think it's just a further statement that the pain has become to heavy a burden and is slowly splitting the person apart. The change in the final chorus lines change the song from a rather dreary plea to an angry question. For the one the singer loved, its a sad reminder of how the singer loved the other person enough to care whether or not there would be someone there for them.

Vance Joy – Riptide Lyrics 8 years ago
Ok this guy meets a girl who he loves enough to leave his comfort zone. His friends are jealous of him, she's the pretty girl from all their dreams, but she is into some pretty nasty stuff, he loves her so much he wants to stand at her side despite it, but he realizes that things are beginning to deteriorate. In the part about the movie he is just telling you what's happening. He's a coyboy trying to escape the clutches of something that he sees as wrong or backward and she is above hin on this pedastel he's created for her. The next part where he begins the questioning the guy is at the end of his rope. Now he just wants to know if she's going to stay, because to him she's the closest thing to perfection. But he realizes she's not going to so he ends the song with three repeats of the chorus lines, he will stand beside her even as he watches her make mistake after painful mistake.
