Foo Fighters – Walk Lyrics 2 years ago
@[cricketfreak:37910] It's nice to see someone got it a decade ago, I just heard it in the song a few weeks past.

My mind was blown when I heard the paper mountains burning part. He's singing about babylon and its many iterations, every senseless, heartless pointless empire in the history of humanity that was built on a paper mountain, or the vacuous commandments of men that bring in no effect or power into reality.
Everytime that he returns, imo is the Christ-like figure, that comes and unbinds the oppressed. The enlightened one that can see further. He's struggling to begin since every iteration of salvation is different.
Totally agree on your take of the little conquerors, he's talking about the tyrants, the short minded, tha forceful mindsets that deny any inherent beauty in nature and ascribe their own empty meaning to make life worth the same as a bunch of ink and paper.

Kansas – Tomb 19 Lyrics 2 years ago
This one is a bit cryptic. But knowing the band and how they like their allegorical lyrics to condense heavy philosophical meaning into a few paragraphs, I'd say my interpretation isn't that long of a shot.

The song tells the story of all of us, looking within for the truth. Tomb 19 refers to our mind, what's in us, the blood and DNA, D+N+A (4+14+1).
Each and every one of us grows and has ideas as we relate and learn from each other, but we are actors in the process itself, we bring our consciousness and affect the communication process as we participate in it.
How much of that whole learning context is purely internal we cannot estimate, but we definitely bring out inner knowledge.
The mayan king is one who has used his inner vision to find the answers in one's soul and found that nirvana state of creation (the treasure). The curse is looking behind you because as you grow you change and trying to be who you were becomes an imposibility.

Kansas – Miracles Out Of Nowhere Lyrics 2 years ago
It starts by him hearing the voices of angels and knowing the world around him doesn't feel like home anymore.
The madman, although he could be a religious figure, I am more inclined to believe is this conspiracy theorist kind of dude that has an explanation for eveything with his crazy stories but turns out to sound saner and saner the more you listen to his point of view.
He asks the madman to tell him who rules the world and his reaction of laughing and walking away is that classic sage reaction of not telling someone more than they can handle.
The singer is desperate to find the answers, when he says its always here or there, he is referring to the undying question burning inside all of us the big 'why?'.
When he talks about the dear mother, hes referring to the earth and humanity as the mind. He's intrigued by the most recent turn in it's history, the short sliver of timeline that we've actually walked on it.
The simple truth that we don't seem to get it's that its right in front of us, the reason itself, God incarnate, truth in all its splendor is hid by a thin disguise of personhood; a mask everyone wears to escape the pain of higher thought.
The song is telling you where God hides. In you-me, love and miracles out of nowhere.

Interpol – Precipitate Lyrics 2 years ago
I got this one.

Paul is disclosing his guilt. This is a confession that the first half of the band's career was a joy ride.

He's telling us they've been bad, Saturn is the great god chronos, the god that ate his children to keep his power, the uncaring devil that loves himself above all, it is evidently our god, at this time in history; and he's telling us it's the world that breaks a man's resolve.
What was their resolve? To help us see the dimensions (the different points of view in life). He's confessing they made an effort to keep us in the cage, being pressured by saturn.
But they laid down some clues, not all their songs were misleading.
He describes how you will feel when you get to that state of mind, walking through his gloom, through this room, is referring to that flow state of consciousness, where one can create and realize true purpose through knowing.
Many creatives know, but they struggle daily to put the reality of 'the one way' into their arts. Daphne is his soul, the heart within the mind, the subconscious 'I' that rules, he cries out to that pure state of mind where left and right meet, the middle path, the cross or as he calls it, the symmetry.
The blood allegory talks about the two laws of this realm, law of water and law of blood.
He goes on to say he used to be a coyote, a creature infamous for eating babies... he was becoming this selfish destroyer of the children (ignorant, feeble minded). He is trying to take a better path but he's still a sinner (thats why he made a mess). He does tell us though, once we get to the middle path we learn no to hate ourselves for slipups and error, we get to appreciating our own inner devils as neighbours, because truth is we need always need something from them, they're the last safety net. The abusive teacher.

It's a beautiful song because it comprehends such a wide view of fame and duty.

@[vanir33:5388] Although I agree with you, this song is most definitely NOT about Jesus.

This one is easy when you're going through the exact same situation and feeling Mr. Banks is trying to invoke with his song:

It is about a guy and a girl (duh), the guy has been in love with this girl for a long time and he's already fed up with the girl not even considering him as an option for her. His attempts were feeble and weak because he was in love and stupid.

Now the guy is pissed
<"I dream of you draped in wires
And leaning on the brakes">

He's so pissed that she didnt see his real value; now his love actually turned into hatred, he's just looking to destroy her by showing presenting her to the wrong dudes and giving her bad advice
<"As I lead you with restless liars
And dealers on the take">

And also making her fall for him in the process
<"I teach you of death's desires
Reflected in lakes
As I lead you in a fearful file to a precipice of fate">

He's tired of putting so much effort into their relationship and seeing her talk to other dudes that are all crazy about her too, but he doesnt care about the dudes or the girl anymore, he wants revenge
<"And I welcome you, I welcome your sweethearts that bleed and break">

He is pure power now that he has fallen out of love, he's not inhibited anymore and can show her what a powerful sonofagun she missed out on.
<"See, I got this soul
It's all fired up">

This song pumps me up every time I'm about to start the chess game that is courting.
