Queens of the Stone Age – Fairweather Friends Lyrics 8 years ago
It's a song about life getting better. "Turned around and found that you'd gone" meaning that someone left him, "bleeding" means in pain, and "broken promises" is perhaps the promise to stop abusing drugs. The "dawn" will soon come, however, and the individual that is being sung about will return according to the singer. "Back in bed," meaning,"back on my side." Gossip, drugs, and snakes represent the bad things in life, but the singer is saying that the moment it gets hard for them to stick around, they will leave his life, which is the meaning of the phrase "Fairweather friends". "Don't let 'em in your head" means "don't remind yourself of the bad things." Rain could represent rejuvenation, both when it says "before the first rain could fall" meaning "before I can start bettering my life," to "gonna pray for rain again and again" meaning the singer wants to heal as much as he can. And at the end he sort of says that he no longer cares for the "Fairweather Friends," or the bad things in life.
