One of the most ignorant songs I have ever heard. I have no problem with people dissing a religion, I have no problem with dark lyrics, but depression is a disease, it is not a sing of weakness. Any one out there with depression or any mental illness or that is just feeling bad don't listen to the message of this song you are not a coward and your problems are real. Plz know suicide or self harm is not the answer and please seek help. I love you all and know there really is hope. |

At first I don't think about its meaning but then I watched a movie on the californication tour and John Frusciante the guitarist talked about how he thinks spirits and angels influence him and spark ideas for his writing. After he said that they showed Anthony Kiedis singing this. I think the song is about the bands spiritual influences. |

I'm not necessarily saying this is what Kurt Cobain meant in this song but I know he was a very accepting person and I think of it as telling someone to be who they are, even if it seems weird to others, "Come as you are, as you were, as I want you to be," this makes me think of Kurt telling the listener be yourself that's what he wants you to do. "Take your time hurry up, choice is yours don't be late," I think he is saying initially reveal your true self at your own pace but as the listener is waiting too long he says hurry up don't be late because if you don't be you yourself before you die you'll regret it. |
