Galaxie 500 – Don't Let Our Youth Go to Waste Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I just read the lyrics... and I can't believe how good they are. always thought it was a cool song, anyway
I love "and I could bleed in sympathy with you"
make a little effort and take care of me, and live our youth together, I think the writer tries to say. I love the way he expresses how most couples who are on and off when they are young end up being together some years later, when they understand they are accostumed (sp?) to each other, but their youth, the years they could have enjoyed together are gone
great album too, by the way. Galaxie 500 have become one of my favourite bands |

Tom Waits – Lucinda Lyrics

he's written some great lyrics in the past (Who are you, Anywhere I lay my head,... ), but there's an incredible amount of very good lyrics in his last album. it may seem impossible, but I think he's getting even better with age (how many great albums in a row?), the guy'll turn 57 in 2 days and is writing the most modern music these days (not like that post punk-new wave crap)
any way, this song. my favourite lyrics in the album, together with Road to peace (also in Brawlers)
Tom and Steve Wynn play the blues like no one else |

really good song from his last album
anyone knows what's with the "balancing a diamond on a blade of grass" thing? he also mentions it in All the world is green. what does it mean? any ideas? |

Circle Takes the Square – Kill the Switch Lyrics

in fact, the Spanish sentence says: "el sueño de la razón produce monstruos". monstruos = monsters. and I think that "el sueño de la razon" is not translated into what you said, but: the Reason creates monsters when it dreams. not sure about that anyway (i'm SPanish, but not sure about the meaning of the original sentence) |

Depeche Mode – A Question Of Time Lyrics

i think the narrator is good intentioned. he used to be like "them" (he's one of them "I know my kind") but this time he feels something special for that girl, and doesn't want her to end up like the other girls ("Sometimes I don't blame them
For wanting you
You look good
And they need something to do
Until I look at you
And then I condemn them")
very good |

The Stooges – 1969 Lyrics

it forshadowed "Smells like teen spirit" and Nirvana by 20 years, only it isn't as famous as Smells... i just think it was released in the wrong time, it could have been an anthem for the X generation |

Iggy Pop – Sweet Sixteen Lyrics

I think this song means that he may not be behaving himself, knowing that it's wrong to be attracted to a 16 year old girl, but he does because he feels alone. it reminds me of The Smiths' "How soon is now?", the need of acceptance as a reason for mostly everything you do. this song is a masterpiece |

R.E.M. – I Took Your Name Lyrics

this song is clearly about being Iggy Pop ^^
seriously, anyone know the reason for the Iggy reference? something like this happened to him? did Michael just use his name like he could have used any name? did Iggy say something about it? |

anyone knows if Reeperbahn is some kind of hell related to some kind of mythology? or he just made up the term?
extremely cool song, though |

Tom Waits – Hoist That Rag Lyrics

I think that he's trying to represent a hopeless world and a man who stands alone (you know, that comic book stuff, in a rotten world), a very dark meaning. My favourite line, and maybe my favourite line in music history (yeah, i like this song xD) is: "At night I pray and clean my gun". I think I'll get it tattooed some time soon |

in my opinion, his best song (except for Tom Traubert's Blues) and definately one of the best songs ever. that 1:30 minute guitar solo is one of the best moments in music history |

Tom Waits – Just the Right Bullets Lyrics

wow! the devil trying to cheat on the main character of the play/album. this song scares me! i'd like to know a bit more about all the Black Rider album as a whole. so far, i went quite deep into Franks Wild Years, but only found out recently that the Black Rider was conceived in a similar way! |
