@[Fr1dge:15545] I shared your meaning as well. Thanks for your incite! I am an idealist. The only way we would ever face the future of mankind, and into the space race is to swallow our pride and live as one people!!! I'm speaking globally. Great interpretation!!!

Def Leppard – Too Late for Love Lyrics 7 years ago
I heard this just now and always turned it before, but I began when I first heard this on the radio. My high school days!! Got me thinking back of all the good and bad that I did as a teen.

Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out Lyrics 8 years ago
@[jonjonwinny:8174] Sorry kid. Don't want to frighten you or anything. But it is the choices we make today that put us in the place we are tomorrow. It's as simple as that. Some have it easy because their elders are wealthier. But most of us catch a few breaks here and there. And I think at those times, we reflect back to our child hood days when things were easier to cope with. I am one who caught a big break shortly after high school with a job offering of what ALL of my classmates would, "I don't want to say the word," but you get the idea. I was blessed early on with a good paying job, although a job that would eventually wear me out over 20 years or so.It has, by the way…

Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out Lyrics 8 years ago
@[jwcalifo:8172] That's a good point! Before I began reading thecomments, I just wanted to put my thoughts to words…

What I relate to while listening to this song is that our childhood days were our best days. We had nothing to look more forward to other than getting out of school so we could play and be happy. Sadly we all know now this isn’t the case. Everybody has got bills up the wazoo, jobs we hate, and lives in which we are less than satisfied with! Now I may catch some flack here (lol,) but I’m sure you’ll understand.
We’re not the first. And we certainly won’t be the last who experience this turn point in life. I’m thinking it from my parent’s point of view. They are the ones who are struggling to get by. Oh I could go on and say that their life’s choices put them exactly where they are today. And look where we are!! Great song! I have to say. But in my humble opinion, I would think that it would be selfish to “wish I could turn back time,” because our parents had to go through what we "endure" today.

Alice in Chains – No Excuses Lyrics 8 years ago
I came here to post about lyrics, but couldn't stop reading you post! We all have our, "I don't know what word to put here," but we have GOT to carry on and never give up. Life is such a precious gift. I know this because I have cancer. Brain cancer. I was diagnosed near the end of '99 and had surgery in early 2000. Six weeks of radiation was soon to follow upon my recovery from surgery. I was sitting on top of the world. I had a GOOD paying job and was looking to continue the beautiful gift that life had offered me. But then in 2004 I began having bouts of double vision. I relied heavily on state assistance since I was no longer able to continue with my profession. My life shattered man. I'm not an angry man, but was pretty upset. Married, (happily? I don’t know.) But in '04, and after getting disability, I endured another procedure at University of Chicago. It was a biopsy in my cerebellum. This tumor is inoperable and I know the quality of my life is cut short.
Anyhow, while doing another six weeks of radiation after the biopsy I was told that radiation can do just as much harm to another part of the body, in my head of course! That got me thinking that the radiation previously caused my current condition. But there is nothing that I can do about it. I’ve pretty much had nothing else to do in my spare time but think about the events in my life. That’s why I think life is the most precious gift. It isn’t because my quality of life is less, but what life has taught me. I am writing a journal by the way. This will be included!! Thanks for your post.
Another smoke beak…
I gotta hand it to Alice in Chains. Their music, especially with Mike Starr, is what’s really listening to. Their music has meaning. The hook to this song is at 2:26. To me, anyway it is. It is so beautifully written and performed! From the drum solos to the sound of the bass and the vocals! That’s all I have for now!!

The Script – Nøthing Lyrics 8 years ago
This song demonstrates a person addicted to alcohol (could be other things...) that yearns to get his or her love or the forgiveness from the one he or she holds dear to him or her. He or she may not know that with every step or action they take trying to better the situation, it will dig them into a deeper hole that they are already trying to get out of.

I know every family isn’t perfect. Mine certainly wasn’t a pleasant one. I never really got to know my father while growing up. Everything that I can remember from my childhood always has to do with my father coming home drunk. He worked as a welder and made GOOD money. We lived in what my older brother called, “The Mansion.” Well it certainly wasn’t a mansion, but I good sized one at the top of a hill. When I became an adult and was married I wanted to get to know my ole man before he passes. I used to take several rides out to his place to visit, many times for shopping since he can’t drive. But there were times I’d be over and he would want to get into an argument with me. It could have been over anything ridiculous. Immediately afterwards I warned my dad that if he kept it up that I was going home. My comments meant nothing to him since he fired right back. I then would leave. He’d call a day or two later to apologize. Usually I forgave him. But he’s gone now and those are the memories I have my father who drank all his life, only to realize that he is alone. He was alone. He quits drinking and all he has now are memories, sad, sad memories of his life.

Really sad...

Alice in Chains – Your Decision Lyrics 8 years ago
@[JC98SS:6574] Oh my goodness!!! HOW TRUE!!!! That's a wonderful comment. This immediately made me think back to a time where I was the happiest in my life. Or at least I thought... I was making a food delivery to a coffee shop in Prophetstown, IL, and my tractor-trailor was parked in the back ally. When I attempted to drop my ramp I noticed that it would have blocked an already open garage door. The man happened to see me when I pulled up for the restaurant's food order. I pulled my truck up a few feet as to not be in his way. And with each trip in and out of my trailer I found myself having a conversation with this man who was working on a car. Evidently, he was a religious man because his every word was in a way that could be described as a man of God. Long after making the delivery I was having good conversation with this man. Before leaving he said that all of our lives are like a line. He then threw the set of keys he had in his hand across the garage floor. All I could see at first was the key chain. I think it was a rabbit's foot, eight ball, or something like that. But yea! He said to picture a long line. "Your life represents that line," he said. "And that each of us starts on one end (the beginning) and we will eventually end at the other. He further went on to say that the easiest way or the most convenient, less harmful way is from point to point. But there are many branches in which to choose from. We all will get there in the end. But how we get there is by our choosing. I've lived long enough to know that I am not proud of all the things that I've done with my life. But life itself has taught me that great lesson. THANKS FOR SHARING!!!

Bruce Springsteen – Brilliant Disguise Lyrics 8 years ago
Recently I began listening to the Born in the USA album, and this track as well as Human Touch are pretty touching songs when it comes to relationships. When I listen to Brilliant Disguise, I think about a girl I used to know who had two faces. She would be the 'loving' woman and I'd be the faithful man. But when she 'turned away,' I couldn't help but think that she was with other men. I found out that this was true after some time. She liked men. Any man!! I thought we were right for each other, but she had other plans which was fine by me.

I first discovered this track while watching the movie, "Beautiful Girls." I ended up buying the movie and the soundtrack. Glad I did! This song had a great impact on me because my wife left me to move "across the USA," to be with another man she'd met while attending a NASCAR race in North Carolina.

@[shed27:3285] I was just listening to this and began wondering what this song was actually about. It's amazing how you worded your response! Even the lyrics about everything being gray and burning ocean oil fires can belated. Thanks for posting!
