| I've been a blue october fan awhile and i have many different thoughts about the meaning of this song. i decided to listen to it a couple of times and reed the comments to see what other people thought. in my opinion i always thought justin wrote this song after seeing natural born killers. the lyrics seem like these 2 people have all this passion and love for each other but no regard for others. i also liked the idea of introducing her to drugs. i never looked at it in that way but could see the idea in it. | |

| this song really hits home. i have listened to it about 200 times this weekend. so i decided to post my story so hopefully i can help someone learn from my mistake. i am in my mid to late thirties. i have done a lot of dating but never really connected with anyone. about 9 months ago i met someone and hit it off pretty well. we dated for 6 months. i knew there was something different about her cause i could never get her off my mind. we both had a lot going on in our lives and one night we just took it out on each other. had a huge fight and stopped talking. after a few days of not speaking i really started to miss her more and more, but my pride had gotten in the way. after 3 weeks of not speaking i decided to text her. she never responded which it wasn't until a few days ago i found out her phone was broken.as more time passed my feelings for her kept growing. 3 months passed and i bumped into her we spoke for a little. the next day i received a text from her saying how it was great to see me. so i finally told her how madly in love with her i was. only to find out she was in an exclusive relationship that was a little less then 2 weeks old. nothing like sharing your feelings with complete strangers ,but if this helps one person not feel the pain i'm feeling now. it will be worth it. | |

@[ricflow:2301] my interpretation of the line i look at treetops you look for caps. is that he sees their love as limitless where she sees it to have reach as far as its gonna go. they are using caps in the form of a verb meaning to put a maximum limit on. if you look at the first verse he also used you look for sun i look for rain. to show how they aren't looking for the same thing |

this song is clearly not about an astronaut. this song is about drug use and the effects it has. she packed my bags last night pre flight - his wife threw him out zero hour nine am and im gonna be high as a kite by then - i am gonna be high by 9 in the morning i miss the earth so much i miss my wife it lonely here in space.- the drugs make him realize how much he misses his wife on such a timeless flight - he knows his wife wont take him back and i think its gonna be long long time till touch down brings me round again to find i'm not the man they think i am at home - its gonna be long time till he is sober and he is the husband and father he should be. im a rocket man rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone - i he using by himself mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids in fact its cold as hell - he knows he shouldn't be around his children high and just the thought of it is very cold hearted and theres no one there to raise them if you did - if he continues getting high he will not be around to raise his kids ( wife wont take him back /overdose) and all this science i just don't understand. its just my job 5 days a week a rocket man a rocket man. - he doesn't know why he is the way he is he is comparing it to people and there 9-5 job. being an addict is his job. the last verse is clear that this song is not about an astronaut. astronauts understand science very well. they don't turn the spaceship around at 5 o clock on friday and relaunch on monday morning. |

in my opinion this song is about running into an ex for the first time who you still are in love with at a party. the first verse is about the party and how he doesn't really want to go but is talking himself into it. the second and 3rd verses is him at the party walking to the bar where he first pumps into his ex. and has a conversation with her. i must confess i didn't recognize you, i hate these things i always attend, i make my way through the ghosts in the room.( i am going to get a drink) who you supposed to be ,are you alright, are you dressed up to take my life ? is the conversation. dressed up like my love, you look like heaven tonight ,cause i worry is what he is thinking while they are talking keep i coming is him ordering another drink the 4th verse is him thinking that their conversation reminded him of when they where together and how he still misses her and is asking her if anyone hurt her they way she hurt him . the last verse is him asking himself what girl is she the girl that hurt him or the girl who he is still in love with |
