Jimmy Eat World – 23 Lyrics | 2 months ago |
After putting some deep thought into the meaning of this song, I believe it's dialogue between two young lovers after one of their untimely deaths. Let's use "he" as the living and "she" as the deceased for this interpretation. Some verses are from the living to the deceased. He tells her that no one will replace her. He'll never love another girl now that she's gone. She was the only one for him. This is uderstandable grief of losing a lover at a young age. "I felt for sure last night That once we said goodbye No one else will know these lonely dreams No one else will know that part of me" Conversely, some verses are from the deceased to the living. She is urging him to move on and live the rest of his life. She will wait for him and one day they'll be reunited (heaven/afterlife). "You'll sit alone forever If you wait for the right time What are you hoping for?" Perhaps one of the most beautiful songs ever created. Jimmy Eat World wrote some amazing ballads. |
Jimmy Eat World – Hear You Me Lyrics | 1 year ago |
Hear You Me is the most beautiful modern-day ballad, and possibly one of the greatest of all time. After learning the meaning of the song, and for whom it was written, it became even more powerful. It puts into perspective the fragility of life. One moment you're here, the next you're gone. Don't take life for granted. |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – The Wind Cries Mary Lyrics | 3 years ago |
To me, it sounds like the song is about a man whose wife or girlfriend died or left him and he desperately wants her back. The guitar in this song is absolutely beautiful. Jimi Hendrix is and always will be the guitar god. |
Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 4 years ago |
This song is a masterpiece. Musical perfection. |
Blink-182 – What's My Age Again? Lyrics | 4 years ago |
This song's meaning is Nothin' But a Good Time. |
Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 4 years ago |
One of the best songs of the punk genre. Possibly of the modern era as well. This is a beautiful song. Stay strong, people. Love <3 |
Metallica – Hit the Lights Lyrics | 4 years ago |
No need to comment about the meaning of this song--it's pretty clear. I will say one tihng, though: it's a kick-ass song to get your adrenaline flowing! Definitely one of Metallica's best songs. |
System of a Down – CUBErt Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I had to think long and hard, but this song is about one thing: thoughtless humans. Everybody is the same, no one really thinks. We just do as we're told. |
System of a Down – Science (feat. Arto Tunçboyacıyan) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
The top-rated comments don't have the same opinion of this song as me. I see this as SOAD singing from a religious person's point of view, not their own. SOAD isn't bashing science in anyway, but rather it is religious people who bash science because science does not agree with their beliefs about the world. "Making two possibilities a reality, Predicting the future of things we all know, Fighting off the diseased programming Of centuries, centuries, centuries, centuries" Two possibilities: creation vs. evolution. Science has made evolution a possible reality. It predicts the future, but our religious literature has already done that for us. Science is proving that our religious beliefs/motives that have been viewed as true for hundreds of years are false. "Science fails to recognize the single most Potent element of human existence Letting the reigns go to the unfolding Is faith, faith, faith, faith" This part seems so obvious to me, yet no one has commented it that I saw. To me, this means that science fails to recognize the spirit, or God. (they later sing "spirit moves through all things"). It is the most potent element of a religious person's existence, yet science doesn't see it. That's what I get from this song: SOAD is not bashing science. The religious people are. |
Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This must be considered for top 5 songs of all time. Beautiful meaning and sound. I love to give this song a listen when I'm in a sad mood. |
Eagles – Take It To The Limit Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This is my favorite song of all time. This is the song that led me into 60s-70s music as well as to the greatest band of all time: the Eagles. It's not like Born To Run in its lyrical complexity, but it sure is great. |
The Doors – L.A. Woman Lyrics | 9 years ago |
L.A. Woman is one of the greatest songs of all time. It is very complex and has multiple parts. The infamous Mr. MOJO RISIN section is probably my favorite minute in music. By far the greatest Doors song. |
Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Undoubtedly one of the greatest songs of all time, if not the greatest. The lyrics are very complex and meaningful, nothing is added for rhyming purposes. I gotta say, the saxophone solo is amazing and the breakdowns make the song so much better!! |
