I think all great songs r ment to be interpreted by the listener. It doesn't matter what the intentions of the artist is. If the listener gets a message from the song, then it's a good song. To me it means whatever your limitations r u can still do anything. If u don't have wings u can still fly. If u don't have legs u can still run. Very inspirational song. Love it

Neil Young – Out on the Weekend Lyrics

To me this song summarizes his early career. He didn't have pick up he had an old Hearst that he wrote the song long may you run about. He did pack it in and move to LA. He also found a place that he did fix up. The woman that loved him all up. To me I think he's referring to the sex with the groupies that go along with the rock star life style. Empty relationships that use you up and take a piece of your soul. He is the Lonely boy that had no voice until he found music. Another example of a song from Neil with deep personal meaning. Great song love the version from his 1971 BBC concert

Only Dylan knows for sure who the lyrics r directed at. But it's a song that like so many of Dylan's masterful songs that most of us can relate to.

As a guitar/harmonica player I agree some of his best guitar and harmonica work on the essentials album version of the song. I don't know or give a shit if he's a good Dad. We've all made mistakes in that department. Who am I to judge. Thanks Bob for another great song.

Bob Dylan – Gotta Serve Somebody Lyrics

Lot of references to the bible from previous contributors. Not sure how much religion came into play in the writing of this song, but I so know this. If Bob Dylan wrote all the hymns in the Catholic Book of Worship I'd be in church everyday. To me the song simply means it doesn't matter who u r u have to answer to somebody. Whether its the Devil or The Lord, your boss, your spouse. If your Bob Dylan your fans and record executives. Your gonna have to serve somebody.

Growing up I wasn't a country music fan. I listened to rock. I play guitar and got a gig at a personal care home that my wife and I own so I leaned some real oldies but I had a hard time being enthusiastic playing them. Then I got into playing some johnny cash. A boy named sue is my favorite. It's a blast to play and the residents love it to. Johnny cash rocks.

Neil Young – Long May You Run Lyrics

When I first started listening to this song. To me it meant a long and beautiful marriage. We've been through some things together. We found things to do in stormy weather. Being able to weather the storms and curve balls life can thro at u. After doing some research the song truly is about Neil's car. I don't think it really matters. It's a well written song like so many of Neil's songs the meaning is whatever it means to the listener. A good song writer has the ability to do that and Neil Young is the Master of this
