I don't feel like it's necessarily a religious song just because Tyler is religious. I feel like at least a few TOP songs are about struggling through life, which any one can do, religious or not. I feel like this song is about one of those struggles. Maybe he feels like no one is there for him. Or maybe he feels like he fucked up his own childhood, which made him and his family have a falling out, and he wants to reunite with them and make things better. |

@[DreamlessNights:21383] It wasn't one of his ex-girlfriends, rather, one of her friends. It was Kathleen Hannah who did it, she was friends with Tobi Vail, who was Kurt's girlfriend at the time. |

I think this might be about his daughter Violet. I do know that one time when the Foo Fighters were performing this song, Dave had Violet on stage to sing with him. That's kinda where my guess comes from. |

Also, not to be rude, but I'm not trying to imply that every Foo song must be about Kurt, if that's what you're thinking because I know that's not true. On The Mend, for example, is about Taylor's OD. |

It's entirely possible that I'm wrong, but I always thought this song was about Kurt and how you can't always save somebody from themselves. Now, I don't mean to start an argument or anything, but whether you believe Kurt killed himself or not, it's obvious that at times, he was really hurting. I always thought that the line(s), "Are you there? Do you read me? Are you there? I don't feel you any more." were in reference to Kurt's pain and that maybe, Dave was starting to feel like it was harder for him to reach Kurt. |
