I think that this song is showing how a man has found his lover and conquered his fear of pretty girls and the fact that he has finally found this girl could mean that his friends are turning green with envy. When the song progresses a little more, the fact that she has been taken away to the dark side could mean that she has been involved with some bad drugs which could have lead her to being in a coma which could explain the "running down to the riptide" part because its as if she is running towards something (the drugs) ready to get pulled away from life and the fact that he will get a lump in his throat when she sings the words wrong could be the realization that because she is in a coma, she can never say "i love you" to him anymore. When he is telling her about a film she would like could mean that because she can not see it due to her being in a coma, he is explaining the film to her. And i also thing that the fact that he repeats the chorus at the end could indicate that he is trying to get into his head that she has been taken away by drugs and she can never be with him again. |

I think that this shows different people going through difficult stages of their lives and at the end of each stage, they find a solution. e.g. - a younger sister mourning her older brother and trying to overcome his death by "laying it aside" - someones father going through a divorce and he gets over the divorce by "finding the peace of the lord" which I assume means that he's turning to god for help? -someones grandfather who is mourning the death of his wife and has to get over it because "there's nothing he can do about it now" |

| I think that the song shows how parents have given up everything for their kids but the kids take it for granted and all of the parents' hard-work to help them and make them happy go to waste and the kids only realize that once the parents have gone. | |
