Cloud Cult – Breakfast With My Shadow Lyrics 6 years ago
As said elsewhere, lead singer/songwriter Craig Minowa lost his 2-year old son previous to this song being written. In interviews he spoke on the time, saying he wrote about 100 songs whilst alone in his home, never leaving, trapped in his own grief.

In the interview he said that the songs would mostly never see the light of day, that there was no way to produce them in any effective way. It seems this is one of them or, at least, of the same mind.

This is a man alone having experiences in his own mind, wishing to %&$^ing God or anyone that if he just could wish hard enough that wish could become true again.

I have a really hard time listening to Cloud Cult.....

Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics 10 years ago
Darwin developed the theory of evolution with no understanding of genetics or mutations. Einstein figured out relativity without doing math. Mendel discovered inheritance patterns without knowing what a cell was.

Andrew McMahon wrote Konstantine. This is one of the most perfect songs ever written. Period. Nothing he has done before or since (and don't get me wrong, I highly regard his work) has come anywhere even reasonably in the same universe as this tune.

If he wrote eleven songs like this he'd replace Bill and Ted as the artists that spread peace through the universe.

Sunny Day Real Estate – Guitar and Video Games Lyrics 10 years ago
Jeremy tends to write in a wrapsotic sort of way, meaning he kind of develops a feeling for the song he's trying to convey then adds somewhat dreamy lyrics to match the emotion.

Because of that, this type of song probably isn't best suited to a line by line analysis. I have suspicions on what he is trying to convey but I'm not very confident in those suspicions.

Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics 10 years ago
Agreed!

On the other side of it, though, I also see someone wallowing in the sadness of a loss or a breakup or something they treasured. As you feel alone, hitting bottom, sadness overtaking....

the artist is saying once you let all that go you'll find its' great in here...and that there is beauty in your breakdown, what you're going through is ok...life will go on and you're beautiful for what you have been going through.

It's a positive message about feeling pain and that you will get through it and life will be good again. That's what I get anyway.
