Bob Dylan – Summer Days Lyrics 10 years ago
actually just heard this for the first time. As always I think that when Bob sings about "me" or "I" he refers to himself and here as well.
I just see the song as a sort of "f**k you, I dont care" thing. He has lived his life and payed his dues. and he is very cocky in this one.

like the verse "the girls all say "You're a wornout star", Think he is refering to him getting old but he simply replies that he has a lot of Money which he just spends around and saying that he knows that the Girls do love him.

the part about the wedding he is saying that weddings might look good at the day, but in the night you will see the true form. he has done that Before and he failed.

"Got my hammer ringin', pretty baby, but the nails ain't goin down",. I agree with markrobi here that he have a message that just wont get across and I Think he refers to a lot of his songs. they have something he wants to say but people just dont get it

the last part (Yes, I'm leaving in the morning just as soon as the dark clouds lift
Gonna break the roof in - set fire to the place as a parting gift) I love. it makes me think about Bobs view on his own life. It feels that he is saying that he will eventually leave this Earth (as soon as the dark Clouds lift) and when he do it will be with a big bang... whatever that means

Bob Dylan – Motorpsycho Nightmare Lyrics 10 years ago
Dont think it is bad rhymes from Dylan. Its a good song that basically has one message for me and that is that of freedom of speach. That is something that everyone should be aloud to practice without being killed. The song is just a story for that last part. Bobby dont want to do the farmer any wrong but he also dont want to stay due to the temptation of Rita so he uses Freedom of speach to say he's a commie (which is based on the american fear and hatred of communism at the time). that freedom saved him without doing any wrong to the farmer nor his daughter

Bob Dylan – My Back Pages Lyrics 10 years ago
Think it might be far fetchedm yes. Although, I dont know, dont consider myself an expert on interpretations (and with Dylan its more difficul) I see the whole song as Dylan looking back at his (then) short career and thinking that he might have been to ambitious and "fighting" with everyone. The end of that verse means to me that he Went on a rampage with his songs, he fought everyone and Everything. Wanted to make his voice heard and say what he was thinking about society or life or that. He wasnt guided by what others said but his own ideas was the only thing he followed, they were his "maps". Others opinions was irrelevant. He say to all the people he thinks have done wrong that "we will meet". Its like a threat, "look out cause we will meet" and he said it proudly.

when writing this song he felt that this kind of approach is not the best and he was simply older then and younger now

Bob Dylan – Red River Shore Lyrics 10 years ago
I just think this is about Dylan and his thoughts. As he has gotten older his music has changed and I think he is in a way more direct. he is more cynical these Days and many songs I think he looks back at his life.

for me this song is about a girl he once knew.he has aways been a believer of true love and Always (i Think) wanted to have that true love with someone. In my thoughts, every time Bob sings about "I" or "me" I think it is about him and so is this one. The phrase "And the frozen smile upon my face Fits me like a glove" simply means (to me) that Bob acts more happy than he is, when it comes to be alone and not together with anyone. Its like his song Dark Eyes where "it is time to smile". Another parallell to the song Dark Eyes is the phrase "Im a stranger here, in a strange land". Bob has always considered himself of "not belonging" and in the song Dark Eyes he sings "I am from Another World".

In the end it is a reference to Jesus, and not saying that he still a christian but Bob feels dead inside and wants something to "Wake" him up. He dont know if Jesus still do that.

So, I see this as one of Bobs more darker songs about his own thoughts, looking back at his life and regreting losing that special someone a long time ago

Bob Dylan – Things Have Changed Lyrics 10 years ago
Thats the first thing I noticed when seeing the title that it is a take on his old song "times they are a-changing". But I dont think that its about him becoming what he was singing about. I think more that back then he cared more about the future of himself and the World. He felt strongly but now, through his years he just dont care. Bob has become more cynical over the years and, like he say "people are crazy". He just dont care, he sees no future and for him it doesnt matter
