i think even if that was the message of the song, it still is not one of their clearest songs. There are so many other songs that are clearer: magic, a sky full of stars just in this new album alone, are more clear then this one. |

This song could be simply about a person who is taught many lessons that help shape and perfect who he is. now i dont believe that people ever really change, and i dont think coldplay believes that either("We Never Change") but the person being sung to brought out the best in the singer. the song serves to tell them how much they helped to bring out the singer's best and while doing this the singer realized how he/she fell for the one who was teaching him all these lessons.
After this the singer is saying how there are many other "fish in the sea" and they could both ignore the lessons they learnt and move on with their lives to find other people to see and ben with. but they would never find anyone else who would fit them like they fit each other. They belong together and thats what the singer is trying to convince her. Its really beautiful, one of my favorite songs |

I love this song. I was not a fan of midnight, and was extremely disappointed, but magic gave me a lot of faith that the album would actually be quite good. As for the meaning. Its simply taking about how in love he is with this other person, and he's both broken over the fact that its not mutual, but he's also in wonder with the beauty of their relationship and how he feels when he's around her. |
