Donovan – Mellow Yellow Lyrics 10 years ago
Sorry to disabuse any true fans of the drug theory, but when I saw Donovan in Seattle in 1975 he said that by 'Electric Banana' he was referring to dildos. I know, that's not actually a very pleasing or cool thought. I remember not liking to hear that from him at that time. Of course there's always the chance he was trying to cover up what still sounds like a drug reference.

The Who – Magic Bus Lyrics 10 years ago
I have never been one to blindly say that any songs were about drugs, but I am sure this one is. I was working with people who use Meth a few years ago who were describing their 'Amped up' feelings when they were out, they called it Jonesing and they sounded just like Roger Daltry going 'I want it I want it I want it' To me that is clearly someone Jonesing... Also... every day I get on a magic bus!?.. gonna ride that bus every minute each day!? to me that is clearly the description of some kind of upper. Bonus Comment; My Generation has a similar beat with another 'speed' effect. When someone on an upper stutters is sounds just like Roger saying ge ge ge generation. I'm thinking those boys are very familiar with that phenomenon.

Bob Lind – Elusive Butterfly Lyrics 10 years ago
This was the hit version, I don't know why it only comes up on the album and the Petula Clark version is shown as the single. I always loved the imagery on this song. The words and the music go together really well to create a really captivating dreamy, floating effect

Bob Dylan – Positively 4th Street Lyrics 10 years ago
I believe this song is a direct defense and attack on Irwin Silber, a leader of the folk scene at the time. I have a copy of Sing Out magazine from November 64 where Silber, who was the editor, wrote a scathing criticism of Dylan in an article called 'An Open Letter to Dylan'. In that article he accused Bob of betraying his folk fans in favor of rock music, glory and money. Positively 4th Street came out about 3 months later and to me it is Dylan using his new-found power to squash a bug with a top-ten pop song sledgehammer. To me it's one of the great comebacks of all time. The title is apparently a reference to the West 4th Street address where Dylan stayed when he was living in Greenwich Village.
