Better Than Ezra – In The Blood Lyrics 10 years ago
I think it's the group's reaction to suicide. Most likely written in memory of Joel.

(How can you know what I feel?) Meaning, why do you think know I don't care?
(How can you throw away everything you lived for?) You've done so much, why would you give it up?
(It's the way we shake and sway) We're all scared.
(It's the passion that you play) How much you care can make or take a life.
(If we just face the pain and the fear) We just have to learn to live with our pains and fears.

Less Than Jake – That's Why They Call It a Union Lyrics 10 years ago
I feel almost like Chris is playing on words with using the word union for mariage because a union is a marriage, but it can also mean a work group. Unionized workers, at least to my knowledge, are known to go on strike, which would go together with the whole divorce thing.

And then I read the comments below. I feel very stupid. Like really stupid. Sorry, man.

He, she, and son, plus it being a punk rock song, probably and more realistically means it's just about him having bad parents that have been fighting for around three years and the son is or was caught in the middle of it and probably used as an arguing technique in some cases. Such as,"Son I'll be leaving now; I can't be the person that you want me to be," and then the mother twisting his words around to use against him suggests that the mother may have said something similar about the father not being the dad his son would want. Then, the father later uses those words to put blame on the mother as well. Sarcastically saying that HE can't be good. That it's all HIS fault. But whatever floats your ark, Mr. Jesus Freak. OTR, whatever happend to God? Why doesn't he ever get any credit?

Pearl Jam – Footsteps Lyrics 10 years ago
Actually the song is part of the trilogy. but the reason he went insane isn't a cause a lost love. It's because he grew up to be a replication of his biological father, making his mother in love with him and sexually abuse him. Sorry, but there's no sugar in this pot of tea.

Mew – New Terrain Lyrics 10 years ago
I feel as if both have psychiatric meaning. Nervous is a paranoia side where his mind has paranoia thoughts that overpower these thoughts from his saner mind that are trying to help him. Demonstrated from the background singing. New Terrain is about a surprise intervention set up for him.

Soft sheets, What's this about?
He's been brought to this and is asking about the setup of the place.

Inside your mahogany cyprus
Maybe booklets inside a table

As long as we're me and you, We should not lose terrain
He doesn't feel safe around anyone else
