I love this song so much. It's mine and my boyfriends song. when ever he says sing something for me (cause he loves my voice) I always start singing this, and he sings it with me, and it is so perfect for us. I just think its about being in love with someone truly, passionately, and crazily, whether they love you back, or not, it's about having someone who makes you feel crazier, and who you can get lost in, someone who has changed your life, or still is changing it, and someone who truly lifts your feet off the ground without even trying. :) Love you Kendull :) |

I love this song so much. it reminds me so much of me and my boyfriend. I just love the way she talks about long term relationships in this, with the simplest of words, she describes just how perfectly wonderful and annoying it can be. i especially love a couple bits: -"I was expecting some dramatic turn away But you stayed" I love how she gets this fit of rage, which i understand completely because i push people away a lot too, and just like it always is with me, she gets this horrible feeling where she finally thinks: its over, after all this time its over because of me, im so horrible, what is wrong with me?! and she expects it to be over, for him to leave, and for her to feel awful. but no, he stays. :) -"And said okay, let's talk And I said Stay, stay, stay" I love this, cause she thinks some horrible talk is gonna happen, and it's gonna be all serious and awkward and sad, but then like the wonderful person he is, he just makes her laugh. :) -"You took the time to memorize me, my fears, my hopes and dreams," He knows her completely, knows to make her laugh when she's sad or mad, thinks she's adorable when she's mad, knows just what to say to make everything okay, so he should just stay. :) -"Stay and I'll be loving you for quite some time No one else is gonna love me when I get mad, mad, mad So I think that it's best if we both stay, stay, stay Stay, stay, stay" You're perfect for me, i love you, and i think we really should just stay. :) -"I love you, because you have given me no choice but to Stay" i love you so much because i just cant imagine leaving you. when i try to push you away like i do with loads of others, you give me know choice but to stay. -"Before you, I'd only dated self indulgent takers who took all of their problem out on me But you carry my groceries and now I'm always laughing" this is my favorite, because its the truest to me and my bf, he's brightened up my life in such a way i cant even begin to thank him for. :) Love this song and all the things in it that make me smile. :) |

Although I know since Carrie is obviously a Christian, it is more likely that she is saying that everything on earth is a temporary home and you have to get through it all to find your true home and comfort and love in heaven, but I like to take my own meaning from it, because I find it extremely disturbing that people see that meaning in this song, and see it as a happy song. if people seriously believe this is what it means, then they're saying don't worry about your hardships (well that sounds encouraging) because it'll all be ok! :D when you... die... (O.o? that's basically like saying: don't care about your life because when ur no longer living it'll all be okay! :D because heaven exists! :D we.... think.... maybe... actually no, we have no idea. oh well, might as well not care about what happens in our lives anyway! woo! :D) My Meaning (like it or don't idgaf, just hear me out): I've been through stuff just like everyone has. life is hard. really hard. I like to think that she means: no matter where you are, no matter what you're going through, that your hardships, or loneliness, or depression, or pains are just like temporary homes. Eventually you'll find your way out of whatever darkness you're in. You will get through the hard times, it'll all be okay. I promise. because this is just a temporary home. And the bit about an old man in a hospital bed (the main bit that makes people think its about heaven), I think it's really trying to say: yes, life is just a temporary home, so get through the bad bits so you can live it to the fullest as much as you can. :) I know that my meaning i have for this song doesn't completely match up and that im just another person twisting it to my own needs, but id like to think that truly, in the most basic of terms, this song is saying: "This is my temporary home, It's not where I belong, This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going, I'm not afraid because I know this is my Temporary home." whether this means you're getting out of a shitty life and going to heaven, or out of high school to the real world, or out of the pain your in and hopefully to a new beginning, or better days, its temporary, and you can get through it by knowing, this is your temporary home, it'll all be okay. PS.. I know im ridiculously anti-Christian, but these are just my beliefs (well...id like to call them common sense, but anyways) I'm not saying you can't have yours. You can think anything you want for all I care. All I'm saying is my opinion on this specific view. :) Thanks. |
