It reminds me of Owl City's Meteor Shower. Mainly because of the length of the lyrics, the more toned-down sound, and the fact that the title has nothing to do with the song. But I'm not positive about the meaning. It could be about some breakup or something, but I think it makes more sense that its about the end of the world, and how he knows that there is life beyond the life that we live now. |

@latexwarrior What you said about the golden ring line not fitting the prodigal son story: Luke 15: 21-22: "The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.'" No return seeking forgiveness? "Heard you were back in town, heard you were coming 'round." (return) and "my love never fades through the fire and rain" (forgiveness). And BTW Mat Kearney even said it was about the prodigal son. |
