I think that this song is about putting your heart on the line. I believe that the singer is in a relationship with someone, but they apear not to be intrested or invesed in it at all. I think this song is at the point in their relationship when he just can't upress his feelings, so he finally says that he loves her, and she doesn't reply. And the longer she doesn't say anything the more he looses hope on them as a couple. In the end he says goodbye to the one he loves :( |

I think that the story in the song tells of not only heartbreak, but also loving and not being loved. The person telling the story is deeply in love with a man who broke her heart, but I think that the way that this song says "Well, I'd never want to see you unhappy I thought you'd want the same for me" and "So you're gone and I'm haunted And I bet you are just fine Did I make it that easy to walk right in and out Of my life?" I think that inbedded in this seemingly simple I loved him and he broke up with me that there is a third person (A.K.A. He dumped her for another girl or was cheating on her the whole time). The part about "Goodbye my Almost lover" I think that she was willing to give her self totally and completly to him, but she didn't tell him before he dumped her, there for he was her almost lover, and it is like a crushing weight to say goodbye. |

I think that this song is talking about not opening yourself up to someone completly, because your afraid of what there gonna think of you when they have found out all the "horrible" things you have done. And about wanting so baddly to escape your 'demons', but also not wanting to take the light out of the persons eyes that you are trying so hard to be good enough for. I think that this song is talking about being outcasts... wallflowers if you will... people that are never going to be voted prom Queen or King, but they don't care. This song is talking about how it doesn't matter how nice you are, royals will be royals and the ret of us just need to suck it up and be thankful for what we have.
