One thing I noticed is that the album was published in 2006, 25 years after HIV/AIDS was identified in 1981, so my interpretation of this had mode to do with the HIV epidemic and how it's severly impacted Africa, but much less so western nations. Of course, lots of things have been happening in Africa for approximately 25 years, and "infection" is just as likely metaphorical. | |

@[mrule:402] Yeah I'm not sure what Google translate is smoking, but "E ku" also seems to be a general positive greeting ("what cheer") ("good" as in "good day") ("happy" as in "happy cristmas"). meji does appear to be "two" ( but also "water" in Lunda which is kinda in the same family but seems very distantly related? ) no idea what "happy two" would men. ... need someone who can actually speak Yoruba. |

The lyrics in a foreign language (its not "made up!") might be important for context. Google thinks they are Yoruba, except for parts of it which it can't translate which googling seems to indicate are Nauruan and Nigerian English slang. Nauruan is oceanic which is confusing because the rest of it is supposed to be Nigerian/Nigerian english, so that might be a fluke (maybe no Nauruan). I don't know if there are possible transcription errors in the lyrics or whether Google just doesn't know Yoruba very well. Combing through a list of common Yoruba words and phrases, a more likely transcription is: Aeroplane odabo (o da abọ) Ba mi ki won lo odabo (o da abọ) Ẹ ku meji, o yo mi O yo mi O yo mi So, cobbling something together using Google translate's notoriously bad guesses: Goodbye Aeroplane, if they use goodbye. She died twice, my (yo?? -- no luck translating here) Remove me (Don't bother me?) Remove me (Don't bother me?) |

| In the music video, the first occurance of the word "green" is printed in red, then fades to green. The second occurance is printed in green and fades to red. This is reminiscent of the Stroop test. If this is relevant to the interpretation of the song, then "seeing green" could be a reference to perceptual dissonance or confusion. Another commenter has already mentioned that "seeing green" may be related to Comsky's "colorless green ideas sleep furiously", a sentence which is designed to be structurally correct, but have no clear meaning. A reference to either the Sroop test, or Chomsky's sentence, could be related to attempting to articulate an experience with langage not compatible with the underlying nature of the experience. | I like this, but I'm still a little confused about the meaning of "green". For some reason, Chomsky's "colorless green ideas sleep furiously" comes to mind. "Seeing green" is also idiomatic for "feeling envy". So I feel like there might be other meanings besides money here. | |

I think others are probably on to something with "teflon" referring to cardiovascular implants, but what came to mind first when I heard "sandmen grains in teflon veins" was teflon coated "cop killer" bullets. Still fits with the theme of assassination, maybe not really what was intended though. |
