To me, and I'm fairly certain i'm correct, this song is about control. Control over your thoughts, fears, and most importantly your flesh (see "flesh out the door"). He is also calling upon God to allay his fears and to give him something to hold on to. (proof of this is in his other album with a christian band, link here http://www.five14church.com/band/music.asp, check out the song dead come alive). Also the rest of his songs have christian themes, such as "Implicit demand for proof, the god he is talking to in Addict with a Pen, and most importantly Screen. He is also telling us that we need to think for ourselves and not let music completely control what we think. |
