Twenty One Pilots – Car Radio Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song's pretty simple to interpret in my opinion. It's a good piggyback to Holding On To You in my opinion, because they are so similar. The car radio may actually have been stolen, since he said in his concert that it's a true story. It's about him being depressed and suicidal, and when he can drive with music he has a distraction from the painful thoughts inside of him. Once that distraction's gone, however, all he has is his own thoughts, and on a long car ride that can be horrible. I remember driving 2 hours home from philly after a huge fight with my girlfriend and my radio didn't work, and honestly all I wanted to do was crash my car and get the thoughts out of my mind. For somebody living with depression, silence could be the loudest sound there is. |
Twenty One Pilots – Holding on to You Lyrics | 10 years ago |
To me the song's definitely about depression, and since I suffer from it it connects so well with me. "Tie a noose around your mind Loose enough to breath fine and tie it To a tree tell it, You belong to me, this ain't a noose This is a leash and I have news for you You must obey me!" - probably the most powerful part of the song. It shows that even though you live with depression you can overcome it and control it. I feel like he really has some issues because many of his songs are like this. I also like how he's calling out hip hop: "Lean with it, rock with it When we gonna stop with it? Lyrics that mean nothing We were gifted with thought Is it time to move our feet To an introspective beat It ain't the speakers that bump hard It's our hearts that make the beat" basically saying how in hiphop now all it's about is catchy beats and dance moves, relying more on the speakers than your own mind. We were gifted with thought, so we should use it to its fullest potential, not just to make a catchy song |
