Julian Casablancas – Out Of The Blue Lyrics 9 years ago
Is it too far fetched to think this song is referencing Albert when he says,

And all that I can do is sing a song of faded glory
And all you got to do is sit there, look great, and make 'em horny
Together we'll sing songs and tell exaggerated stories
About the way we feel today and tonight and in the morning

I just think their relationship was /(maybe still?) is great and this might be his way of saying sorry? I have no idea(: but if anyone would like to extrapolate, please share!

Your interpretation makes a lot of sense- thanks! I'd also like to add that the "laugh all the way to hell" line might have to do with that quote: "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". Also, "sitting, drifting around in bubbles and thinking it was us that carried them"- I think he's referring to the bubbles carrying us (like our fate, I guess)?

Vampire Weekend – Holiday Lyrics 10 years ago
"Half of me is the gasoline but t other half's the surf" I think he means to say, that whilst he makes things happen for himself, he also allows fate (in a less dramatic way, if you will) to play out. I agree that it might also have to do with the oil in the middle east. Funny how when you really listen and decipher the lyrics, it can become so dark, yet still carrying that carefree, happy tune.
