White Zombie – Super-Charger Heaven Lyrics 6 years ago
It goes without saying Rob Zombie's a fan of satanic imagery. I'm not. However, it's prety obvious all Rob Zombie wants to do is look cool. Looking for a meaning in his songs other than "let's be badass" is pointless.

My mom and I are heavily Christian. But my mother is very well aware White Zombie's a bunch of goofball metalheads without a real purpose, and she's a fan. My sister has seen Rob Zombie multiple times, and she's very Christian as well. So Rob Zombie is one of those bands that really depends on how much the lyrics offend one as a person.

Immortal – Unholy Forces Of Evil Lyrics 6 years ago
This looks to me to be about an evil being being a part of a sacrifice, or being sacrificed. Almost as if one's paying for his sins.

Misfits – Devilock Lyrics 6 years ago
I typically study songs like this to determine whether they're promoting the devil or just singing about the devil for the sake of being gritty.

The song starts out, "so make this demon offering," but doesn't really go beyond that. I think what it's singing about how the devil tricks people into falling for his games, and they'll eventually go to hell. The song capitalizes on telling the populace how evil the devil is. They are a "horror punk" band, after all.

I don't consider Misfits a satanic band by any means, and I doubt they promote satanism. And if they ever did, it was for the sake of a song and not intentional (I wouldn't listen to the song either way). I found on RYM that the album is tagged as "satanic," the only Misfits album to weild that tag. But the term "satanic" is loosely defined by people who aren't religious. I have a much more defined topic. Satanic means "promoting the devil," and not just singing about the devil. If a song talks about how evil the devil is or triesd to make a dumb horror punk song out of it, I don't really mind. If it carries lyrics about "praising black sathanas" or whatever like in an Electric Wizard song, I discount the band entirely.

Misfits writes horror songs. They write punk songs joking about the horrors of cinema and literature, and are in no way promoting it. Sure, the beginning of this song is questionable, which leads me to my interpretation.

Most of the song seems to be sung from the perspective of someone who clearly wants to massacre humanity, i.e. a demon or the devil. The song makes the devil look very bad and very untrustworthy, a trait found in Sympathy for the Devil by Rolling Stones.

So the song talks about how evil the devil is, and is not a form of promotion in anyway. it's true a lot of people confuse warnings in music with promotions, like many Alice in Chains and Black Sabbath songs. But the truth is to Misfits, and it shows in their lyrics, scary stuff is a big joke. So yes, I would listen to this album, even if I'm very heavily Christian. I just know what to look for. At the time of writing this post, it is the Sabbath, so I won't spend my time listening to it today. Doesn't seem appropriate. But it felt pretty obvious once I actually thought about it. When I think about whethert or not a song is satanic, I get drawn to study and study it until I've reached a thorough conclusion that I wholeheartedly accept. Misfits are not satanic.

I don't know much about Evangelical Christianity, but I know Michael Girl himself stated this is an album about Catholicism. And take it from a Christian who actually listened to this album. Christianity and Catcholicism aren't the samer thing AT ALL. If a Christian says they are, the Christian's probably just some different sect of Catholicism. Especially considering Christianity's been around before Catholicism, and Catholicism has many VERY different beliefs from Christianity.

My point is, this is an album about Catholicism, as stated by the Swans frontman himself.

Swans – Sex, God, Sex Lyrics 7 years ago
Notice the album cover. The cover has lined up crosses and swirls. It's obvious what the crosses represent. In some religious symbolism, the swirl is a symbol for fornication. Notice the title of this song. Exact same pattern as the title. As the lyrics in this album tend to thrive on, the song is about the conflict between human desire and religion. In fact, the lyrics seem to be spoken from the perspective of a man speaking two his original god (sex and fleshly desire) and his new god (God).

The lyrics "I will beg you, I will beg you lord" may be spoken to God, while "I will deny myself, I will deny you lord" may be spoken to sex. The album's theme is conflict, so why wouldn't the song follow the same pattern as the album cover and the title?

Gorguts – With Their Flesh, He'll Create Lyrics 7 years ago
It looks to me as a simple story. A man believes God is a fantasy, and attempts to be one. However, his Frankenstein-style creation is clearly horrid and uncontrollable. So attempting to be his own God bit him on his pretentious little ass.

It feels like a song about a woman and a man fornicating in secrecy, and she feels shame for it. Shiva is the God of destruction, so that possibly represents her ethics torn apart.

The problem here is that Christians need to know they aren't perfect. They need to live the rest of their lives learning how to act perfect for the rest of their lives instead of trying hard to make sure the past mistakes don't count. An argument athiests make is tht "no mane's perfect." But that's what a Christian needs to know in order to grow.

Nina Simone – Sinnerman Lyrics 9 years ago
That is NOT what God made Hallel (orignial name, do some research) for. You see, people get the idea God is omniscient. First of all, I'm not saying he's not all-knowing, but that depends on people's definitions of all-knowing? Where does it specifically say God is omniscient to the point where he knows everything that's going to happen? That's a word man used to describe God. Saying God is omniscient means he gives no free will to people, in a sense. Now, I want you to think of the Metallica album "Master of Puppets." Who's that represent? In the song, drugs. But rel;igioussly: the devl. Saying God controls us is horrible.

God made an archangel with free will. But God had never seen evil before. When Lucifer rebelled, God had to alter his plan for man. This may sound heathenous, but why would anyone think God would create an evil being, or create someone while knowing that creation would turn evil?

God di not make the devil. He made free will, and he made ther archangel, but he did not make evil. The devil is the king of liars, and other nicknames hint at the devil creating evil, and not God. God is not the father o the devil.

In fact, the Holy Bible tells us the timelines of Adam's three sons. But only two of them: Seth and Abel, were called descendants of God. Cain was expelled from the God family.

Reading about the singer, it seems she either doesn't believe in a God or she does but doesn't like to be organised. She's not against believing in one, but organized religion is a different story for her.

Nymphs – Heaven Lyrics 9 years ago
It's obvious. She wishes she believed in God. It's a bit depressing, like many other songs from this album. As a Christian, I don't like the lyrics, since she says she doesn't believe. But maybe it's a reminder that we need to believe? Because other songs try to prove a point, so maybe singing about wishing could mean one should try.

Modest Mouse – Alone Down There Lyrics 9 years ago
It seems to have references of hell, butbit's more of a drug song to me. The song seems to be sung from the persective of two people: the drug dealer (aka devil's apprentice), and the customer. But from the beginning, there's a dead person. So it's probably about a man going suicidal with drugs to join his friend.
